Not as much as 4.5m though. That's huge money for a non-parachute payment club.

Seems to have moved quickly since my earlier post and looks like it's actually happening, which is good news. Though I still expect a sale to balance it out...

Indeed if you are Derby County you never have to realise any costs in the books. It is just (a significant) cash movement

His first full year in France he had managed 8 goals in 8 starts. The rest of his appearences are a couple of minutes from the bench.

Last season he had 19 starts between the Prem & Ligue 1 and managed 5 goals. Season before he moved to France he had 15 goals by January in League One in his first full year as a pro. It is all respectable for a young player, we could capitalise here on a young player that is playing above the level he is currently at.

Or was it the plan all along mate. Deals always get done last minute, we would have been planning everything for the final day of the window.

Hope so. Given that we are also paying 2m for Ojeda, want another winger and could sign more (talk last week before signing Lowe was that we wanted 'at least' 4 signings, which implies there could be more), we could easily be looking at a 10m+ spend if the club lands all of its targets by tomorrow evening; in that scenario I can't help but wonder how we are going to finance all that.

Whatever the logistics, let's hope we are in a better place when the window closes tomorrow. Maja will be a very welcome addition.

Euros not pounds and under FFP, the fees are paid over the length of the contract.

Can he do the 'one man press' we seem to specialise in?

    Obviously all guesswork.

You assume the wages from last season are as follows:

    Knockaert 38,000
    Freeman 30,000
    Christie 22,000
    Sow 18,000
    Hefele 14,000
    Dawson 10,000
    Ameobi 8,000
    Yuri 8,000
    Blackett 8,000
    Bachirou 5,000
    Iaonnou 5,000
    Diallo 5,000

You are still looking at about 8 million saved per year. That is just from wages, you spread most fees over the length of the contract. We have trimmed the squad massively, the players we are bringing in don't really have big wages. It is always the wages that kill you.

Maja would be a decent acquisition. Good age, should only get better. The fee is not that bad when you look around at what 4m sterling gets you nowadays. Hope this one happens.

Would be nice to offset it by a million or so from selling Taylor to Birmingham or the likes.

Are we sure this signing isn't for the ladies' team? It says 'Maja is heading to England today to negotiate her contract.'

If Taylor goes to Birmingham it would most likely be on a free transfer, and only then if they are willing to match the wages he is on.

Maja Fee's not , so 4.5 transfer fee should be slightly less, around 3.8m..

No point in trading stats, when you really have to factor in a striker playing in front of our providers. Those telling passes to feet in the box etc.

Looks like Deeneys signing for Brum, unlikely to need Taylor.
