Quite probably, though rank hypocrisy will always get people's backs up.

I think what people forget is it was pride month last month, so it's going to be more visible.

Most the people I see moaning about virtue signalling don't seem to be calling for any change until they can point out hypocrisy, which is a bit hypocritical

We should do more like boycotting WCs held in backward countries like Qatar

Some the same people online also say politics should be kept out of football when footballers take the knee.

It would need FIFA's support before any player is likely make a statement in any way. And fat chance of that.

At the Moscow Athletics World Champs a Swedish high jumper painted her nail in the colours of pride. The IAAF informed the Swedish federation that she had breached regulations. The athlete was threatened with two weeks imprisonment under Russian law and the IOC immediately put out a statement stating such acts would not be tolerated at the the following Winter Olympics in Sochi.

    https://www.channel4.com/news/swedis...-green-tregaro

A player or team could take it upon themselves to make a stand but it could very well make competing at that World Cup very difficult if it goes against what FIFA and Qatar wishes, and it obviously would.

Acts of activism are not just something athletes do on the side. Performing in the sport can become difficult or impossible. If England were going to take a stand, it'd probably be better to boycott the tournament.

England should absolutely boycott the tournament

Southgate should call-up that gay footballer on Coronation Street into his WC-squad.

That's up to them, personally I don't want England to participate in a tournament being held in such a barbaric country where homosexuality is illegal & where women are sentenced to 7 years in the nick for adultery

Not many people seem too bothered though

When the FBI took down Blatter and Infantino took over, the World Cup should have been taken off Qatar. They were still six years out.

Qatar won with a bid that didn't even have a workable plan on how they would stage it in the heat and when. It should have been very simple to say the bidding process had no credibility.

Absolutely. It'd take a lot of countries, mostly European and probably Brazil to boycott to have any affect though.

I'm sure a lot of players, see Germanys display are not entirely comfortable with a world cup in Qatar, but unless there's a conglomerate of nations, nothing will change.

I think 4 big European nations would be enough, if the FAs from say England, Germany, France & Spain said "move the WC or we're not coming" then FIFA would be in a bit of a pickle

Plenty of countries could hold the WC with a years notice & this way it could be played in summer

FIFA would probably have to give back all the bribes to Qatar

When you move your 90 year old summer tournament to the winter, just so you can play football there, it kind of sums it up really.
That countries views on homosexuality and their treatment of the workers building their stadiums aside, it just seems like a really stupid idea.

All the stadiums that will be used are between 40,000 and 80,000 seats.
Similar to South Africa and even to a lesser degree Brazil, who is filling these stadiums when the World Cup is over?

What impact is this going to have on the Qatari football scene?

I think it's really interesting that Canada/US/Mexico are co-hosting the 2026 event especially since the growth of the MLS in the last 10 years,
plus I'm not sure they'll even need to build stadiums.

Out of those bidding (Qatar, US, South Korea, Japan and Australia), I'd have quite liked to see Australia get it.

That being said, they're expanding the World Cup to 48 teams in 2026 which will certainly be interesting.
UEFA gets 3 extra spots. Africa gets 4 extra, Asia gets 3.5, North America gets 2.5 and South America gets 1.5.

So it's quite likely you'll see New Zealand at the 2026 World Cup and out of the 10 South American Teams, 6 of them will be taking part.

And the open REAL systemic racism and slave labour?....I wonder where the virtue signallers will be...? My guess is sunning it up on a beach supporting England. Then back abusing decent hard working coppers are the first opportunity.

Boycotting would be pointless as they'll always be a queue of countries more than willing to take those places.

Better to turn up and make a fuss, this forcing FIFAs hand - would they be willing to kick major teams out of the competition purely for having the audacity to draw attention to blatant human rights abuses?

Your palms are holding her neck and thumbs are at her ears regulating the speed of her head as she swallows and then sucks up your machinery. She is topping up your engine oil for the cross-country coming up. Your RPM is hitting a new high. To wait any longer would be to lose prime time... She picks up a Bugatti's momentum. You want her more at a Volkswagen's steady trot. Squeeze the maximum mileage out of your gallon of gas. But she's eating up the road with all cylinders blazing.

How do I explain this profile picture change to my 4 year old? Maybe the people in the comments section can help?

Just pretend to be colour-blind, youll get away with it.

I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism

Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.

If you want to brush over it you could tell him / her that it was a Forest tribute to the NHS for their coronavirus response.

(Should you be letting your 4 year old go onto Facebook. )

This whole thread seems to be a lot of people saying "Nothing against the gays like, but I go into a blistering rage anytime I see anyone supporting their rights or owt like that"

I think Yates is bringing more gay men to the CG than a rainbow armband. Plus, there's cock everywhere you look.
