For the football tonight, a local Schwaben Bräu Zwickl Kellerbier:

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

Your palms are holding her neck and thumbs are at her ears regulating the speed of her head as she swallows and then sucks up your machinery. She is topping up your engine oil for the cross-country coming up. Your RPM is hitting a new high. To wait any longer would be to lose prime time... She picks up a Bugatti's momentum. You want her more at a Volkswagen's steady trot. Squeeze the maximum mileage out of your gallon of gas. But she's eating up the road with all cylinders blazing.

Delayed at the airport yet again by the incompetent pissbags masquerading as an airline, FlyBE - or should I call them FlyMayBE.

    Fuck them, back to Lufthansa.

Anyway, to soothe my annoyance, a rather nice Sanwald Pilsner.

Just to add to the Flybe hate. They've cancelled our flight direct to Brussels tomorrow, and not told any of us. We've just found out by checking in.

They've moved us onto a KLM transfer, which'll take 6 hours longer than expected.

But at least they told us... Erm.

    They are, frankly, shit.

Another delay, I note I’ve flown with them eight times in the last two months alone and every time, a delay, and excuses.

Back to Lufthansa from Frankfurt I think.

Have to say that I used to fly with them to Amsterdam regularly from East Mids and bar the occasional hiccup they were okay.

Maybe the short flight time helped?

    It is indeed.

Although had I been Sam, I’d have gone to Amsterdam, ducked FlyBE off there and gotten the train to Brussels!

The problem with them is they’d got money issues, so up have gone the prices and down comes the service.

They’re also working their aircraft to squeeze every possible penny out of them.

As an example, the plane I flew from Stuttgart to Birmingham on last night, yesterday did the flights:

    Birmingham-Glasgow
    Glasgow-Birmingham
    Birmingham-Amsterdam
    Amsterdam-Birmingham
    Birmingham-Stuttgart
    Stuttgart-Birmingham

All in one day, and it goes six days a week.

Just one slight delay earlier causes a massive knock on effect.

    Hence their chronic lateness.
