Makes no sense, I thought he was decent when he got the chance but didn't really get enough. Much better than Dias and much better than Carvalho (though not the same position), I thought he was the best of the three. Wenger had kept his eye on him when he was at Arsenal too, probably would have ended up there if he'd not been Megsoned after losing to us in the cup.

I suppose when you have Joe Messi destroying the division on one side there's only space for one winger anyway, couldn't understand why that was Dias.

Looked like he’d be a decent player. Trouble is (as always at Forest) dropping shed loads of players into the squad with no overriding plan very rarely benefits either the team or the player. Didn’t we sign 4 Portuguese that transfer window?

Hughton has proven you need to stick with a solid starting 11 for a good dozen games, come rain or shine to get players up to speed...this lad plus many others didn’t get the chance to bed in here...

    You live and learn init.

Player plays well for another team, so automatically he should have stayed here. Maybe it simply the case he's a better fit for tat league & approach.

You cant rewrite history, he had wheels & very little else when he was here.

No one is saying that. What Adam and I were saying is that his exclusion under Aitor was very confusing as he looked better than Dias.

    That’s it.

Unfortunately for this lad his name wasn't Tyler Walker or Jorge Grant.

Would it have worked out if he was given more game time? Who knows? Should he have been given more time? Perhaps. Is he another player in the long list of those that are played a handful of minutes and written of as shit straight away? Almost definitely.

Also key that he's good enough for Benfica, a club with a rich history in Europe that is still going on as opposed to near on 40 years ago. Although it's a "shit league" they play in....

He's scored one goal against Arsenal, albeit an excellent strike, and suddenly we should have kept him and he wasn't given a chance here. Lol

THE TRUTH IS THERE AND WITH IT I GO TO THE END OF THE WORLD .

Different league, different pace, different approach. Benfica is a higher standard than us, but that doesnt mean Goncalves should be an automatic success in this league. Totally different set of criteria needed to prevail here.

He didnt necessarily have it, much like Carvalho, he was do fucking lightweight, knocking him off his stride was too easy. Dias was shit, but he was robust enough to conclusively prove he was shit.

No I wasn't suggesting he should have been kept I don't think that was an option either way, he was on loan and made about 6/7 appearances, I think it's fair to suggest he's a level above though considering his performances on a continental stage.

I dont think anyones said it, but its the irony laced inference in every thread that suggests we don't give foreigners a chance here. Without suggesting its from you, its baseless & dull.

If these players we're achieving anything here, they'd get more of a chance. How long are we supposed to wait for these players to show something tangible.

I know. I was just pointing out that perhaps all players should be given more of a chance by the club and the fans, under 10 appearances doesn't give enough of a look for fans to make an informed decision either way, yet academy products/local signings are defended to the hilt. The Tyler walker thread is full of people having a circle jerk when Walker scores for Coventry, an ex player scores in a European competition and it's met with mockery.

Fans attitudes are stuck in the past. The most successful clubs on the planet give players time to adapt. You only need to look down the road to see cheap signings at Leicester won them a premier league title and they are currently on form for yet another champions League tournament next season.

He was a better footballer than Dias, that was obvious even from his brief time here.

Looking at Dias’ career though, his agent is brilliant as the player was garbage.
