    Default Formula 1 and Motorsports!

    Both Mercedes drivers smashing it...
Lewis smashing records, and all the opposition.
    Valterri only smashing his car.

6/10 of a second is a frankly enormous gap for a pole lap. Lewis is taking the proverbial a bit there.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

Where's the nfl thread? I really must go and tell those that like it that I don't.

I'm sure they'll all be fascinated by my insight.

When you find that, please let me know where it is - I don't like that either

Be sure, there will be plenty of twists and turns, oh and the odd chicane for good measure during this long season, not to mention the odd thunder **** moment from Vettel. McLaren will surely join Lewis at the party in front. Great pole but it dont get you any points

I'm not a fan personally, Id rather they made the sport about who's the best driver rather than the best car.

Until then, I'll do my usual, watch it until the first corner & then turn over.

They tried to do that a few years back with A1 Grand Prix but it was just as boring

I think much like test cricket, motorsport is about the nuances and doesn't have the immediate 'pick-up-and-play' appeal of a lot of other sports

I see Vettel won... but I can't understand the rules!
If I understand the facts of the matter, Hamilton was leading comfortably and made a pit stop.
Then another car broke down and a virtual safety car rule was imposed, restricting the speed of the cars.
Vettel, not having made a pit stop took the opportunity to do so during the safety car period.
Pit stops under these false circumstances are 10 seconds faster than a normal pitstop.
    And so Vettel won.
Now, how the fjuck is that a sporting contest?
Next race they'l maybe make Hamilton drive a tractor... I don't understand.

What a win by Danny Ric!

Came within 30 seconds of not even taking part in qualifying after a turbo failure in FP3.

Australia might have been a dull race, but then again it almost is because, well, it's a shit track, but Bahrain and China have both been great races.

Another Mercedes cakewalk the season was going to be according to the doom-mongers. Well they've not won a race yet.

Safety car rescues a dull race again. Too much saving tyres and too many cars lose performance in the turbulent air of those in front, the latter 2 have been issues over the last 3 seasons, as much as I still enjoy it, thats not the real meaning of racing

Ferrari in particular but Mercedes as well guilty of sleeping when it comes to the strategy. During the first round of pitstops Ferrari should've been responding to the Red Bull's stopping never mind the Mercs.

Oh and Max Verstappen....What a cock!

I have never ever watched Formula 1; I could never understand it as sport, meaning a spectacle that someone would enjoy watching. It makes no sense to me.

True, but it needed the safety car to make it a 6 lap sprint. Something has to be done about how much the tyres are having a bearing on all the cars at various stages of a race and therefore being in many respects a governing factor, that cant be right.

Yep, the tyre situation is nonsense; Pirelli deciding on a tyre months in advance of a GP?

Just let the teams decide what tyres they want to use from a pool, and let it go at that.

They do. Pirelli nominate 3 compounds for each race and the drivers get to choose how many of each compound they want for the weekend. And can use any 2 or all 3 of them in the race.

It's absolutely impossible for motor racing to not be about tyres to a large degree. They are a pretty fundamental part of the performance of any wheeled vehicle.

But if everyone was on the same compound of tyre at the same stage of wear you'd be moaning the races were all boring processions.

Australia apart all the other races so far this season have been very entertaining.

    Hope it continues.
