Looks like Figueirido owes everyone a pint again
Poor chap, could have scored at one end and then sets up a goal at the other. Done well recently as well.
Without Marshall's howler, and Figuerido's howler it would have been a 0-0 draw last night.
The problem isn't Figuerido's error that cost us a goal and 2 points dropped.
The problem was that for all the praise being heaped on Krovinovic, Ker-nock-aert, Murray, Taylor, etc we failed to create a sinlge decent effort on goal.
Roos will not have an easier game than he did last night.
And because of that failure up front it means the back 5 cannot afford to put a foot wrong.
For 86 minutes Figuerido, defensively, didn't put a foot wrong.
Then he made that error.
We have one of the best defensive records in the Championship since the start of 2021.
However, when an error is made in the past, it has all too often beed Figuerido that has made it.
When Stones started at Man City, a multi-million purchase of a centre-back already an England regular, he made a few glaring and fatal errors.
Pep dropped him, and worked on his game with the player and the coaching staff and brought him back as a more accomplished player who has eliminated the errors from his game.
CH is likely to do the same with Figuerido now - Figs is not in the same class as Stones, but he is suffering from a similar problem.
And despite the solid performance until he did make the error, anyone who has played the game will know that Figs' propensity for having a lapse will unsettle and unnerve the players around him.
I noticed earlier in the season that Samba was affected badly by Figs' lack of composure.
Worrall was blazing at Figs when Figs cocked up.
The problem has to be sorted.
I can feel a Figueiredo v McKenna factional split forming. Bring it on. McKenna rools ok.
Another one of those games. We score the equaliser in the 84th minute and it feels like a winner, they score the equaliser and it feels like a defeat.
And the regular scapegoat is the unfortunate who blunders. Of course, to compound the error, the lucky lad who profits scores a worldy which he would miss 9 times out of 10.
Such is life.
I feel a bit bad for Figs today, I’ve slagged him off a lot on the past but for the majority of last night he was rock solid, one mistake and the Derby lad scores a quality goal and it devalues his performance.
if mckenna wasn't so injury prone and i sincerely hope this season is a one off , figo wouldn't even be in the side as mckenna/worrall would have been the partnership.
I can only think that CH is saving Soh for the future or that Figs shows so much more than Soh in training, because there does not seem to be that much between them on the pitch. Given that we have seen so much less of Soh.
