They seem missing altogether to me

I mean does anyone watch us on matchday and identify a plan of any kind?

For anyone who has a sub to The Athletic there’s an interview with Harry Arter on there, and his comments could give some pause for thought to Forest fans.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

    Keeping situation is fine.
Saturdays back four was ok but its taken time far too long to get there.
Central midfield as it stands has qualities in different areas, but no all rounders to get the ball moving.
Wingers, Zink is stand out, all lack pace, the ability to consistently beat the man & put a delivery in.
Forwards, Taylor looks like a fish out of water, Grabban may have found a purpose a bit deeper, but we lack a nailed on goal scorer.

Couple of new signings may evolve us at the base or out wide, but its a long shot.

Defensively we look fairly set, but theres questions on creative input across the middle & big questions on goal threat.

I suspect most managers would play the same way given our limitations. Theres alot of negativity on tactics but no discernible solutions given on what we could do differently with that lot & not get soundly thrashed.

To be fair MASE,we have been bullied in some of the games(particularly yesterday and against Blackburn).

I have to admit I don't study other teams squads, but I'm sure if we had a manager with some idea of the necessary, we could pull clear of the drop with our present players. Perhaps the striker situation is questionable, but many teams actually have wingers, midfielders and defenders who regularly score goals.

Sorry, I just can't see a way out with CH in position.

The change didn’t work and we didn’t properly replace Watson and Cash who so expertly joined up defence and attack under Sabris system when it was working.

For a brief period we had an identity and once again we’ve lost it and haven’t a clue how we want to play.

In an alternate universe we would have built upon the approach that saw us challenging for the autos with 8 games left, rather than throwing the baby out with the bath water.

We’re right back to where we were when they sacked Davies and replaced him with McClaren.
The signings were so unsuited to Sabri's approach it hurt. Freeman was never ever built for a quick counter attack style.

Lolley is shot, Mighten isnt ready, Johnson has shown glimpses but isnt ready either, Zinkernagel looks decent, none are famed for their delivery, pace or goals.

Silva might be decent, but nothing much there to hang your hat on an offensive game.

Difficult to see a way out for anyone to be fair.

A fair assessment MASE,although I think Johnson has got genuine talent-it's just a shame he has been thrown into
    a relegation dog fight.

Hard to disagree too much with this, also think the main problem we have from an attacking aspect is that the balance is all wrong with the players we're using. None of Zinc, Johnson or Mighten are bad players individually but they're all too similar in the fact they all want to have the ball played into feet. We need variety in attack, some form of intelligent movement to help create space would be a good start and ideally someone who actively makes runs and tries to get in behind teams

As things currently stand our attack has no balance and is frustratingly static, it makes us so predictable and we ultimately never give an opposition defence anything to think about. I doubt there's an easier team to defend against than us

No mention of Carvalho? I thought he was supposed to come back from his highly successful loan spell as the lord and saviour of our midfield.

Ive smashed all the central midfielders, Id moved on to wingers. Although we did try Carvalho there & he was shit.

    Positives:

Better squad than we thought most believed we had. We still have Zinky who didn't play today and a handful of new signings that we've not even seen yet that could add even more. Two we have seen and the club got pelters for signing them and not being Hughton signings.....well thank fuck for that, maybe the club actually know what they are doing with recruitment now and I'm looking forward to watching the others we brought in.

    Negatives:

Such a shame that Lowe and Spence are loan signings rather than our players. They have been excellent additions. Hopefully we can retain them permanently.

As you're on quite the roll MASE do you want to make any other statements that turn it to be the complete opposite?

Perhaps a post to say Forest definitely won't finish top two this year?

30/09/2021: It's only 8 points to the play-offs. Doesn't matter if we're 20th having lost three times as many games as we've won so far. I fancy us now that Hughton's gone.

I'm pleased to say that all through many of us thought the problem was CH and his strategy rather than the quality of the players and today went some way to addressing that point.

I just hope that the players and coaches keep the positive thinking and momentum gained today and we move towards a higher and safer league position.

To be fair to those who argue the quality of the squad is poor there definitely was gaps when we started the season (left back and Central midfield were obvious problems) and some of our young players whilst looking like they have a lot of potential are going to have games where they don't contribute.

So I do understand that view point but equally there's now two senior players to every position which has a reasonable blend of experience and youth. It's not a top six squad but it's certainly better than rock bottom and it is certainly better than some of the squads we've had in recent years. I wouldn't swap any player in our squad with likes of Traore, Carayol, Mills, Mancienne, Clough, Bentdner, Diakhaby, Bonatini etc.

There's also something called Man management and motivation. Chris Hughton repeatedly, and not so subtly, saying to Radio Notts that the players aren't good enough was bound to impact on confidence and cause strife between players and the manager.

Excluding new signings this last window.

Out of contract 2022: Grabban, Bong, Figueiredo, Smith, Jenkinson

Out of contract 2023: Colback, Taylor, Lolley, Cafu, Carvalho, Yates, Johnson [+ loanees Da Costa and Arter]

Any of those players we think can leave in January if Cooper can't get them to contribute and maximise what they can bring to the squad?

I would not be surprised to see Lyle Taylor go, if Forest bring in another forward?

Yates and Johnson, if I were Forest, I’d be getting pen and paper in front of them sharpish, and getting both signed up.

    Jenks, Bong, Figs BYE!

Bit gutted coz I thought Artur & Da Costa were gone in 2022 too

I'd love to see Bong, Figs, Jenks, Cafu, Da Costa and Artur all gone in Jan if possible. I think the best we can hope for though is maybe a few loans out. Taylor I'm happy to give a bit more time to tbh. He is a goalscorer on his day, and we're short of them. He's been shite for us, but given a few months with Cooper and a bit of service he may be OK yet.

Colback I think is worth persisting with for the time being. As Strummer says get Yates & Johnno signed up asap pls.

That would be my idea as well. 1 out and 1 in for CF & CM

    Ideally Taylor and Cafu out.

PS Also forgot Tyrese Fornah is out of contract and that is a tough situation. He will need to be in squads to sign a new contract you would think.
