    Default Dion Charles

25 year old striker currently at Accrington Stantley.

20 goals in 48 games in all competitions this season.

Linked in the Athletic this morning, they describe him as "a player with a strong work ethic and a physical presence, as well as an obvious eye for goal."

More chance of a Dionne Warwick, Dion Dublin and Ray Charles trio performing at Last Night of the Proms.

    Accrington?

I thought he was a Wanderer?

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

He won't cost much but he would be making a big jump, especially if he is coming to be our main man.

I think we are going to have to take a gamble on whoever we sign upfront this summer though (whether we sign them from League One, Scotland or abroad), as I doubt we have the funds to sign a proven quality Championship striker. I'd rather we tried a signing like this than bring in a 30+ year old has been like we usually do anyway.

Big fan of stat based recruitment and those stats look good.

Two minute video clip looked decent too.

    Default Dion Charles

I reckon it will be between this chap and Jerry Yates

Edit: although interesting to see his dribbling stats, Humphreys at Rochdale had high stats for that too, maybe something we are specifically looking for

Any striker associated with the name Stanley is okay by me.

This dion guy is on the smaller size and weak on aerial duels , is he really what we need if we play with one striker ? I prefer stephen humphrys and 1 more.

The good thing about passing to Mr Humphrys - he's always free ...

Portsmouth vs Stanley was on Sky, and this guy looked incredibly ponderous. Be really surprised if he can make the step up. From memory Tyler had a better scoring record.

I see Brentford were linked with him a few months ago.

As quoted by the Lancashire Telegraph, Stanley boss Coleman said the League One side no longer need to sell stars to survive. He added that the club’s top players will be commanding price tags of “well over a million.”

“Myself and Andy are on the same page,” Coleman said.

“If we think the best business sense is to sell a player for the good of the club, that’s what we will do and it doesn’t matter who the player is.

“They are educated decisions, made with the interest of the club whereas in the past we had to sell to survive and that’s not the case anymore.

“That means you get the market value. The starting price for our top players now is well over a million.”

I've seen him play internationally and I'll use the well coined phrase, he isn't good enough for Nottingham Forest.

To be fair, being "good enough" to play for Forest is a pretty low bar nowadays, especially upfront. Grabban, Taylor and Murray managed 12 goals between them, 6 of which came against sides that finished in the bottom 3.

If this Dion Charles chap is really any worse than our current lot, I dread to think how bad he is!

Just out of interest jnj, what standard of opposition were NI up against?

Played against the USA, prob not their first team and NI aren't the most creative side in the world so I'm probably judging too quick. But as a country we are starved of forward talent, and have even played guys from the Irish league, which is below conference standard. Completely different style of players, but Connor Washington, Josh Magennis and Liam Boyce are well ahead of Charles in the international pecking order. Id have rated Will Grigg much higher.

If you had a choice between Charles and Akprom who would you go for?

Notwithstanding jnj's comments about his performances on the international stage, and whilst I'm certainly not talking John O'Hare-level (he could hold the ball up all afternoon if required to), but if this lad has the precious ability to make the ball stick, and is able to chip-in with a few goals, he'd be useful for us in my opinion, and especially considering Chris Hughton's stated aim of the team having more of an offensive threat next season.

    Can't we widen the choice?
