    Default Kevin McDonald

Thought I'd start this thread considering our business seems to be hotting up a bit.

Nottingham Forest to battle Brighton & Rangers for Fulham midfielder Kevin McDonald. #nffc #ffc #bhafc #rangers
Tweet from a week or so ago but he is the chap who called Burke to Leipzig.
Also seen a few rumblings the last couple of days about a deal being close for a player with a fee of around £3m and I reckon he'd fit the bill.

6'1, 28 year old defensive midfielder, very good at breaking up play but also a great passer.

Big part of why Fulham and especially their midfield were so good last season, he mostly sat deep and allowed Cairney and Johansen to do their thing.

Would be a cracking signing. Type of player we've all been crying out for, for ages!

I'd be surprised at anyone leaving Fulham for us. We can't pay what they can, and players want to live in London.

Fulham have used up the last of their parachute payments and spent quite a bit last year, perhaps they need to trim their squad? McDonald probably has more ties to Scotland than London, maybe somewhere a little further North than the capital would suit him?

Can't find a video from last season at Fulham but here's one from Wolves:

He's Scottish, he probably likes it better up north anyway.

Didn't realise he was at Fulham now but I remember pointing him out a few times whenever we've played Wolves as the sort of player we need. Not sure why he'd leave Fulham to come here though.

Young millionaires will want to stay in London, regardless of where they're from originally. Clubs are aware of this - it's even been suggested that northern clubs are considering opening training grounds in the south in order to attract players.

This aside, Fulham are based in the richest region in the country and can directly offer a footballer much more than Forest, parachute payments or not.

Not to mention Fulham narrowly missed out on the play-offs, and Forest relegation.

I'm not saying it's impossible. I just don't see it happening when you consider all of the above. If they sell him to another Championship club, it'll be to someone like QPR, Brentford or Reading.

I don't see this happening. Would be brilliant though.

Very good player and would be a huge improvement on our current midfield. Sadly, as has been said, it's incredibly unlikely to happen.

Telegraph's John Percy confirms it's a real thing and not just another twitter rumour.

Notorious bullshitter John Percy, more like.

The same question remains, why would he come to Forest after only one season at Fulham?

That said, perhaps they're in danger of falling foul of FFP too.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

Incidentally, if his predictions on Forest continue to prove accurate and his predictions on Olympiacos become fewer and less accurate after this summer, I will know who his ultimate source is.

Well, he came out of nowhere, working in a site hostile to Olympiacos and started tweeting fairly accurate news on both Forest and Olympiacos. Like I said before, Olympiacos has managed over the last few years to keep a very tight lid on leaks. Only things they want to be leaked are leaked. So his sources cannot come from the usual channels and they have to be knowledgeable on both teams.

Being honest, I always had him down as something of an agent provocateur for the Marinakis bid to whip up a bit of fan pressure on Fawaz to get a deal over the line

I like Antonis, always very gracious despite the morons banging on at him. Seemed to get on with Dan Taylor quite well.

Antonis has a 100% success rate in his news regarding Forest. He's generally a very good journalist in the way he presents himself (at least in English, anyway). He only talks in facts and doesn't spend all day yapping giving hints about rumors. He says it as it is, that's why I like him. He seemed to have pretty much a direct line to Pedro Pereira last summer.

I wouldn't go as far as saying John Percy is a notorious bullshitter, but he has certainly been wrong a few times - equally he has been right a lot of times, too. I think Percy's sources were definitely inside the club, which under Fawaz - is probably why he got so much wrong, because nobody knew what was bloody going on.

Can I just say how much I'm enjoying GreeksBearingGifts being on the forum. It's refreshing and interesting to hear the opinions of a fan from another team, albeit one who might be now classed as a cousin of NFFC.
