Like I said he's never had a bad injury as far as I can remember so you could probably get a solid 3 or 4 seasons out of him. Player transfer fees are amortised over the length of a players contract now so even if it's a 3 year deal for £5m that equals out to £1.6m per season, not too bad, especially if we are building for a promotion push in that time frame.

As for buying lower league talent and using the youth system, I'm all for that but adding one or two top players who have Championship experience to the team is a good idea imo. Especially to the spine of the team.

Warbs and McParland know what they're doing, if they can't get him it'll be a shame but they'll have other targets in mind.

If there is some doubts about Middlesboro nicking Mahoney from under our noses, we should go balls out and offer £5m for this fella. He's a quality footballer and his fitness is reliable - the latter in particular is something we've not had for a long time.

Assuming we don't sell Britt. Without Britt we don't have a goal scorer next season, so would need a proven Championship striker - well that's if our aspirations are any more than another relegation scrap.

If we sell him, the whole summer changes.

Until we can trim our bloated squad and get some cash in , we shouldn't be blowing all our budget on macdonald, there should be an alternative.

We need a few quality players.

    Unfortunately they cost money.

We'll have to see whether we can get better than Mcdonald for the money.

ie-under 7 million if that is the real figure being banded around in the media.

We've too many average players and our midfield and defence needs strengthening.

Warburton is known for getting bargains in , so i hope he can find alternatives. We need a few players in , wingers , midfielders and defenders.

We'd have to look about and see what else is available for that figure but I imagine a lot of clubs breaking their previous transfer records in the championship as the tv deal has had a knock on effect raising prices considerably across the board.

I thought 3 mil was a lot. Wouldn't like to see us forking out £5+ mil on individual players, not this season.

It's a lot of money but we do need some big improvements in the middle. I was looking at our squad the other day and thought it the weakest i've seen for ages.

Our three prize assets all play in positions that are covered. Yet the exposed areas are week beyond belief.

Something has to give. Warburtons top drawer, so lets at least give him a balanced side to work with.

Just popping in to say, just because Alan Nixon claims they want £7m, doesn't mean it's so.

Seven Trevors would make a bloody good five-a-side squad.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

He said Jason Cummings was just "agent talk" 24 hours before he officially signed, even though everywhere was reporting it was done - so you may correct.

My recommedation and i'm surprised that other english clubs hasn't gone in for him and that's john bostock , scored 8 goals last season and won the ligue 2 player of the year. Has matured very well in foreign shores , a good fammily man and only 25. (some englishmen just can't cut it if they moved too early to foreign shores -i.e dale jennings who moved to bayern munich at 17 , now currently unwanted , overweight and a free agent)

has the ability to spot runs and play raking passes.

    The obligatory video highlights
