People say that but then they often don't. Tyler Walker didn't really. And if you look at Johnson's dad he wasn't that bulky as a player either, more of a quick runner with the ball and a good finisher.

Most occasions this season when he has had the ball he made something happen. However not had the ball enough. If Cooper is appointed it seems he like to attack down flanks and hopefully he can get Johnson on ball more.

Yup a full season at least at this level, doing what he’s doing, will help his development immensely.

Like I said a while ago it is all about getting Johnson in good positions, time and time again today he was in dangerous positions & he killed Barnsley. He is a player of moments, he is gonna be quiet in games but when he has those moments he is explosive.

He is a top player, now get his contract sorted.

2 goals and 3 assists already. Under Hoots too. He's taking us up (one day hopefully)

    Yes I agree.
He’s got a bit of magic in his boots. Strangely (although he’s not fat and Scottish) he reminds me a bit of Jihn Robertson in that he’s got a quick football brain and he makes things happen. He could turn into a top, top player if he carries on his trajectory.

Many have talent but lack the temperament. He's showing he has the nous to select the right option at the right time.

Long may it continue and with Forest.

Forest have to get his contract situation sorted out.

You think his dad will make sure of this?

    Don’t know Thomas.

It has to be said, his dad did seem to have a beef with the previous manager, but also, he’s said that the club know the numbers Johnson wants, and he would be happy to sign if his demands are met.

It’s up to Forest, do they value him enough to pay what he wants, or are they looking to cash-in on him?

He could be the difference, an exciting technical player, providing goals and assists, that pushes Forest up the table.

Unless he’s asking for silly money, it’s a no-brainer for me - get him signed!

Fact of life as a Championship club, we're always looking to cash in and balance the books, even at the mercy of clubs like Burnley or Brentford in the Premierleague.

It's a catch 22 with Brennan, on the one hand, him playing very well is great for us but the better he plays, the more interest he's going to get.
The fact that Brentford were in for him, in the first place, tells me they see pound signs in the boy and if we can get his contract sorted and if he continues to have a good season, in a recovered market next summer, we'll be looking at closer to £20m for the lad than £10m.

Enjoy this lad while he's here, don't think it will be long.

Don't usually go overboard with praise, but this lads justifying the gate money on his own. Quick, tricky, with an end product, Johnsons input has been the catalyst for me.

That front 3 of Johnson, Grabban & Zink is starting to look decent.

He's a rare player where you can see he has the genuine potential to go to the very top. I hope he's here for a couple more years, but I suspect it will be impossible to hold into him past next summer.

I like Mighten too, probably well behind Johnson in the pecking order now but he's quick and makes things happen, and will develop more under Cooper.

    Can you blame him?

His son has a very short shelf life as a football player - 15 years at the most. If he has the talent and the desire to make it then those 15 years can be well rewarded.

But if when you're starting out you get stuck playing for an anti-football dinosaur who makes you look rubbish then it's probably not in your interest to stick about is it?

Thankfully that scenario has been removed and whilst it's not guaranteed we'll still be able to convince him to stay for a while, at least the possibility has increased.

30/09/2021: It's only 8 points to the play-offs. Doesn't matter if we're 20th having lost three times as many games as we've won so far. I fancy us now that Hughton's gone.

Different player, different positions - they're not competing against each other.

A lot depends on the formation Forest play. If it's a 3-4-2-1 then Mighten is going to struggle to get into the team as he's not suited to the more central 2 role whereas Johnson is. If it's a 4-2-3-1 then he can play wide left on the 3.

Had we kept Warbs we'd have been sat in a far healthier financial position, ready to capitalize on the current youth players like Johnson, Mighten, Worrall, Yates etc. and build round them.

The original "commodity of time" plan which a lot of fans wanted was definitely the right one. It's gonna be a bit guttering to see some of these lads sold off over the next few windows to rectify the mistakes of the past few years. Johnno especially. As others have said he could go all the way to the top.

    In truth, no.

The situation was badly handled, and dragged into a public slanging-match on social media.

Spot on mate. Mighten will get his opportunities and it will have to be in that system as you say. Johnson has shown he can change games and his pace is going to a major threat for teams so I think cooper will try and set the team up in Johnson's favour more often than not.

There will be games where teams sit much deeper and it needs a different approach to dribble at players which is when Mighten be utilised.

One of those who seem to be fulfilling their potential.

Good lad. Showed he's a team player with that first goal, too.

To be honest Alf if Warbletoon was still here we'd probably already have sold Johnson and Worrall. Warbs is a business guy and likes to apply that to football, in a positive way.
We'd likely have seen Johnson in our starting XI much sooner, with his performances likely attracting Premier League interest. Worrall would have been long gone because Warbs would have wanted the fee to reinvest in other exciting young talent.

There would be a lot of other young players from the academy and other places to make up for it though.

The "commodity of time" didn't just mean taking one set group of players and developing them over the long term, it was always about instilling an ethos and a method that runs through the club. Which it hasn't done unless that ethos is utter chaos.
Hopefully Cooper is the one that really puts those things into a good place.

That assumes those players want to move though.

I don't buy that Warbs would have sold all of Brereton, Cash, Worrall, Johnson etc. myself. Like I've said, maybe the odd one. But Warbs wouldn't have fucked the wage bill & spending up to the degree Vrentrzos did, forcing our hand to sell as much either.

I think had we kept Warbs the past few years would have been much better all round. now Dane & Cooper are here, I hope we proceed with a similar ethos which Warbs was starting to get motoring when he was here, and build sensibly & considerdly for success. Not spunk loads impatiently for failure.

The past 3 years have been an utter attritional drudge based on foolish delusions of "ambition". Good riddance to them, and bring on actually turning us into a Prem club from the inside out, rather than thinking the answer lies in the Comorian wilderness, as opposed to within our own ranks.

I'm very excited to see what Cooper can do with his record at working with young players.

Anthony Knockaert in 34 championship games (2,440 min) managed 2 goals and 2 assists.
Brennan Johnson in 10 championship games (806 min) has so far managed 2 goals and 3 assists.

If I was Brennan I'd be pointing at whatever stupid money we gave Knockaert to stink out the place and be asking for similar.
