    Dan Dare?

I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism

Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.

    Yes!

The Mekon of Mekonta, with villainous sidekicks Vulcani and Starbuck (yes, where Battlestar Galactica stole the character-name from).

I used to love reading those old Eagle comics when I was young. "Dan Dare, pilot of the future".

Montanier reports that Dan is in fact training with the first team occasionally, but he's picking the right time to introduce him into the squad. Positive stuff IMO from a man that knows what he's doing with youth players.

Until we get another chump manager who would rather spend millions of a future owners cash on second rate pap rather than play a "youth".

Whereas, our Garry, in his usual uninformed way (in as much as he's unlikely to have ever seen the lad play*), is arguing that he should be considered for selection now.

(*in all of the years I've watched our academy and U-21 sides play at the NDA, I've never seen GB in attendance there)

    Gary Brazil? Really?

EDIT: I'm gonna leave this here as this is thread of my failures and I now realise you're talking about Garry Birtles.

I'm going to quote this, just because I can.

What with renaming poor old Brereton, and now slating Gary Brazil for not turning up for youth games, poor old MXJ hasn't had the best of months.

But in years to come, no matter how bad things get, when he's down to his last penny, when he wakes up in the morning with a sore head, alongside the creature from the Black Lagoon, he can look back at this thread and say "well, at least it can't get as bad as that!"

My thoughts on this little episode are thus; if you can't take the piss out of yourself, you've got no business taking the piss out of everyone else. And I like taking the piss out of everyone else.

If it's any consolation MXJ, I do feel a slight tinge of guilt for my minor role in contributing to your total humiliation.

If anything I'm pretty stoked that everyone's calling him Dan now. I feel like I've got a legacy
