Interesting article. No mention of either burgers or swans though.

Bit off subject, but, talking of former players, Arron Davies is still making the rounds, after a host of clubs he's now with Accrington Stanley. At least he keeps fit, poor old Chris is still with us, but rarely plays these days.
Accrington Stanley?
Who are they?
„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“
„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

Surprisingly, the majority aren't, it's just a few who drag the image of the rest down.
Gregor was one of he first intake into the academy that my old man worked with as Education Officer for the club.
All the lads would sit a set curriculum devised by the clubs and the FA, again initially implemented for them by my old man.
The likes of Gregor, Michael Dawson, Marlon Harewood etc would often be found in my dads study burning the midnight oil prior to sitting examinations.
There were very few exceptions to the rule of getting an education alongside their footballing development.
Watched him win at Wembley in May. there are worst ways to finish. And something he could never have got to do at Forest.
He goes out with a good friend of mine, thoroughly nice bloke.
Shame his playing career had to end in such a way.
His articles for the independent any very good reads.
A very good read. Thanks for posting/sharing!
He really has turned into a great football writer.
