I thought that was Barry’s weekly take home nowadays!

Or the amount in Brynn’s ‘the tax man will never know’ shoe box.

Where did this "sunlit uplands" quote in relation to Brexit come from exactly?

Did any Brexiteers ever actually use it to describe post-Brexit Britain?

    Try exactly £5074.25 less.

As much as Boris paid for his holiday out of his own pocket?

30/09/2021: It's only 8 points to the play-offs. Doesn't matter if we're 20th having lost three times as many games as we've won so far. I fancy us now that Hughton's gone.

The government have announced how many Visas have been granted for foreign HGV drivers…

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

It was 26 last week according to the BBC.
Is there any wonder people question the MSM? They can’t even get basic figures right. It could be 200 visas for all we know.

    Exactly.

The article says apparently there are 300 applications; and they’ve so far granted 20 (but it doesn’t say what the success/failure rate is).

The no visa nationals can get a business visitor stamp at the desk as well if they arrive with paperwork in place. So could be loads more using that.

Is there still an issue with petrol anyway? The first weekend there were a few extra queues at petrol stations here, but not absolute carnage. By the Monday it was back to normal. Is it just a south east thing?

At this point, Boris is just like your mate who turns up blind stinking drunk to a party at your gaff without bringing a bottle, then proceeds to drink most of your booze, take a shit on your patio, put his foot through the television, and then cop-off with the girl you had your eye on all night.

What an absolute lad. It’s no wonder the voters love him.

I think it's been clear for a while that Boris doesn't really give a shit about the establishment or accepted conventions.

If people didn't see this when he prorogued parliament to try and get Brexit done (so there was less time to undermine it) it won't be more blatantly obvious he'll always try and seek a loophole for his advantage (which is why I don't trust them with the coronavirus act at all).

In some cases this isn't a bad thing though as it does show that he is capable of unconventional thought and is not going to just discard ideas.

They have to do it. But it's not wholly surprising they haven't been inundated with applicants. And presumably some of them aren't qualified anyway e.g. they don't have a HGV licence.

It is unequivocally always a bad thing, there is nothing to "gain" from reneging on things previously agreed at the time to suit your political ambitions. It creates a bad relationship with our nearest trading partner - who now won't trust us and therefore will not deal as freely with us as they would before. And it's not good for British democracy either that a person knowingly lies to the electorate to get elected and continues to blame other parties for that lie. It treats us the people with contempt. We are useful idiots for Boris and his cronies to subvert the democratic process which, with integrity and honesty, would likely have not returned the yellow mopped twatbadger to power.

And no it does not show he is capable of "unconvential" thought, it simply shows he is willing to be the **** that other people refuse to be. Again, not a good thing.

How an old-Etonian, Oxford-educated, Bullingdon Club Conservative manages to persuade so many to buy his anti-establishment-hero act never ceases to amaze me.

He has the might of billionaire media moguls to help him prop up this facade.

It's simple, they convince people that people like them are the enemy, the left is going to ban you doing all the things you like and if you work harder you'll get where they are.

I think the Dead Kennedys put it better in Holiday in Cambodia:

    Well you'll work harder
With a gun in your back
For a bowl of rice a day
    Slave for soldiers
    'Til you starve
Then your head is skewered on a stake

Quite possibly one of the greatest songs and piece of music ever composed from a working class outfit. It’s timeless and strikes fear into the listener from the first opening four bars without a word spoken.

Of course, you're right. These right-wing press barons, for their own self-serving ends, have managed to convince sufficient numbers of people to vote against their own interests for so long now that Johnson can sell his bullshit with barely any effort. I really shouldn't be amazed at all.
