    Default Jordan Gabriel

Watching Notts TV Last night Boot room and Johno said we have signed a 16year old for 50k from Southend. He said this was done a few weeks ago and forest have not announced it yet. Apprantley this guy is really good and all the top clubs wanted him. Sorry johno didn't say his name

Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel, good to see we beat off some better teams, did he say who? Also good to see us using EPPP to our advantage rather than have players taken from us.

Was he one of Marshall's recommendations?

It was Marshall's recommendation according to jonno. This suggests the embargo doesn't apply to youth signings?

Looks like he was at Arsenal prior to Southend

Are we going to miss out on gems now Marshall has gone?
One step forwards but two steps back it seems.

Jimmy Gillgan is still here, he pretty sure he's well connected. I think.

Yes, for the club that he owns outright.

Isn't all his own money then?

Shame he's not a left back. Even when you consider his tender age you'd still be tempted to give him a chance.

In his interview on the OS, Brazil ( or the interviewer, i forget which ) mentioned Chelsea and Norwich as two teams interested

why? a 16 year old right back ( a position where we have a very capable player and backup ) that hasnt even made a League 2 Mathday squad as far as i can tell, but we should throw him in the first team of a Championship team? Im al for giving youth a chance if they are ready, but this seems extreme

After what happened the last 2 seasons he looks to have put the hard yards in and clearly because of his natural talent Brazil felt he could put him forward to Karanka unlike last summer to Warburton.

Nice left-footed strike off the bar in training.

Will find it interesting what happens with him because you don't want another talented boy in Jayden Richardson not playing a lot of u23s football this season.

PS We could change title to Jordan Gabriel and put in main forum. Would just need to start an Adam Crookes thread for his updates on development

You think he will be loaned out Bryan? Maybe Mansfield could be an option

Was surprised he was with the first-team squad for training.

Like you say Bryan, hopefully he's seen he was on the cusp of being on the scrap heap, particularly with Jayden Richardson moving ahead of him last year, and really put the work in.

It's usual to have some of the younger players training with the first team, or even taking part in games in preseason. It doesn't indicate that they will be part of the squad in the following season, although some might be.

He needs a loan for himself and for our pathways.

It would be ideal but would clubs take the risk ?

Suppose we could arrange some deal in the loan contract if need be otherwise stay until Jan (get games) and assess options then.

Seeing as he wouldn't be on a lot of money and we wouldn't be asking the club he goes to, to cover very much (if any) of that, there'd probably be plenty willing to take the risk.

Just become a father so maybe some new maturity and realising things don't just happen - you got to make them happen. Talent has always been there.

Best thing now is we have a talented boy like Jay around pushing him. Next step for him is becoming an u23 starting regular , earning a professional contract & winning the FA Youth cup.

Agree matey. If we offered him to the Stags I think they would be mad to say no. He is a really good size too. Shaming some first team players there

Mansfield currently have Paul Anderson & Hayden White as their right-backs.

I think they're making a go of it this season, so might not be a place for him to go if he's having his first look at mens football.

Where's Paul Cox managing now? He gave both Yates, Crookes and Erlandsson their first go. Always talks about making men of young lads.

I've heard that Jayden Richardson is a rock at the back but his dad wants him playing up front. They probably want to give him regular minutes or risk losing him like Bondswell.

Richardson is a pure modern day full back.

He's strong, built like a sprinter, competitive and reads the game well. He could probably play centre-back if he grew some more.

Really hope he gets/signs a pro deal soon.

I have feeling that in 5 or 6 years time we will owe Paul Cox a debt of gratitude.
