    Quality comedy. The best imo.

Nigel, after match last night. Turned us down purely on the principle of leaving Burton in a relegation battle. If they were mid table it would have been different. Nothing to do with the behind the scenes going on at forest. Still a massive attraction to manage here. Never say never. His words

He's an honourable man, and his attitude is to be applauded.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

I think he will come in the summer.... GB to take us till the end of the season then go back to his former role... Clough leads Burton to their best position ever and leaves with blessings and reputation in tact.

....then takes us up and wins the premier then wins the champions league back to back.

The circle of life will then be complete.

If that was the case why did he talk to us in the first place?

Sounds like he is trying not to burn bridges more than anything else to me.

Nothing wrong with that. I'd be just as diplomatic in the same situation.

Agree with those who think Nigel Clough will take the job in the Summer.

Come round to the idea of Gary Brazil & Jack Lester til the end of the season. Theyve managed to diagnose our problems pretty quickly & come up with some really decent looking answers in the window. Think they deserve the chance to follow it through til the Summer.

    Best of luck to em.

That's what i was saying yesterday. Maybe a gentleman's agreement in place.

I think he's backtracking out of respect for Burton and the chairman to be honest. He desperately wants to manage us and would've taken the job if it wasn't for Fawaz and all the behind the scenes stuff.

But he won't be coming here in the summer or any other time as long as Fawaz is owner now. He publicly snubbed Fawaz so there's no way he'll even be considered for the job now that's happened, even if he did change his mind.

Summer is plausible, especially if Burton are relegated.

Clough was probably hedging his bets for now - at the time Forest were in freefall and looking very likely that they may go down. Clough can wait til Summer and guarantee himself a Championship club next year, either Forest or Burton, whoever doesn't get relegated.

Fair play to him to making sure that Burton get relegated.

So come the summer Fawaz is going to go knocking on Nigel's door again cap in hand and say "I know you turned me down a few months ago but would you fancy the job now?"

I think we all know that Fawaz the man-child and his ego would never allow that to happen.

Unless Nigel has already agreed in principle....?

"You wait 20 years for a Clough, and then two come along at once" (or are scheduled to, but one hits some delays near Burton)

If anyone can help Zach's all-round game you'd think it should be Nigel though - if he can become half as good in terms of link play and vision, on top of being a bit more able and quick individually then we'd have some player potentially.

Is that the reject list from Trumpton Fire Station?

By "relegation battle", do you mean 7th, 12th or 14th?

Nigel has answered the questions as to why he turned down the job in such a diplomatic and respectful way towards Fawaz.

He's certainly left the door open for himself and I can easily see him coming in the summer.

Who knows, he might actually be able to get on well here as well?

I'd be very happy for him to come and wished we'd got him in now regardless of concerns I have to do with Fawaz.

We have to make the best of a bad job now regardless of who's the owner.

For most fans not selling to JJM was the final straw but I'm still a bit unsure as to whether JJM would have been much better to be honest.

I think he seemed likely to be a bit of a prick as well.

It was hardly professional getting into a media spat with Fawaz himself for a start.

I'm well aware we've basically been treading water ever since Fawaz came and am definitely not a fan of his either but do hope when we are eventually sold it will actually be to people who can run the club a damn sight better.

Fingers crossed our luck will start to change!
