Say what you want, but Aaron Davies really seems to have done well for himself there.

He was fucking magnificent today. He’s rapidly becoming a personal favourite of mine, because not only is he a top-class defender, he has the confidence and ability to bring the ball out from the back and charge forward and score a frankly ludicrous goal like this (and that is not the first time he’s done that, this season).

The price is apparently €3m in the summer. Already agreed as part of the loan from the Arsenal. Sven Mislintat, post Match, was trying (and failing) not to laugh at that money.
Your favourite messed things up yesterday in the world cup qualifiers. We had, strangely enough, a perfect first half, defending well against Sweden and missing several chances (including hitting the woodpost twice), Mavropanos led the defence very well, and then in the second half he gave away a stupid penalty with an untimely and unnecessary tackle and Sweden scored. He burst into tears after the match.

Anyway, tonight, Europe’s most entertaining league serves up Hoffenheim against Köln, two teams who at least try and play entertaining football.

Köln Coach Steffen Baumgart is rapidly becoming a cult figure, not content with revitalising Effzeh, his adoption of the flat-cap on the sideline has generated a huge merchandise-sideline in the 1.FC Köln club shop!

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

Spectacular come back from St Pauli, 1-0 down at the break and after some technical issues my stream resumes and its 3-1 to the good guys!

2-0 down at half time. Pioli takes off Maldini and that Belgian with the long name and 45 minutes later...3-2. Masterclass!

    Footy is good again.

After two bad league games Bayern are absolutely killing Leverkusen. 5-0 in 37th minute, domination so complete you just can't believe they're playing top Bundesliga team and not some amateur Verein.

This season so far, Die Werkself have been in some sublime form, but Bayern so far are almost playing football at a different level.

It’s almost Manner gegen Jungs at times.

Absolutely top banter from 1. FC Union Berlin, who are now in the Bundesliga top five but put Wolfsburg noses properly out of joint with a comment on their website’s live-text commentary, where they described Hertha-loanee Dodi Lukebakio’s point-blank miss for the visitors in the first half, when the game was goalless, as follows: „Even my uncle would have scored,” it said, „and he has an artificial hip and a broken knee. You can tell the man came from Hertha!”

    Proper inter-Berlin trolling.

Wolfsburg managing director Jörg Schmadtke later told Bild of his annoyance „even if it was meant to be funny”.

Love Atheltic but Real Sociedad are also great to follow. Unbelievable pathway for young players to come through and the only team in Spain with their B team in the 2nd division such is the quality they producing and Xabi Alonso is in charge of that team.
