The atmosphere is as flat as a pancake, because basically there isn’t one.

But as ever there’s some proper needle between the two sides, pantomime villain Sergio Ramos won - and scored - the penalty that looks like the difference.

1-2 Real Madrid with five to play. Barcelona, Messi and all, are looking very poor.

I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

And as i say that, Luca Modric makes it 1-3 after some shambolic defending by Barcelona.

Koeman looks like someone has properly pissed on his chips.

Someone will correct me, but I think that’s a record away-win in the Eredivise.

Meanwhile in Dortmund, after an hour it’s Dortmund 2, Schalke 0, and Schalke look a beaten side.

Erling Braut Håland has notched Dortmund’s second goal, his fifth in five matches.

Also: Frederik Ronnow (remember him?) is in goal for Schalke and is keeping the score honest.

Without him, Dortmund could have had four or five. Schalke have thrown in the towel.

Mats Hummels makes it three, smashing an unstoppable header past the despairing Ronnow, who deserves better than the shambles in front of him.

Ruhr bragging rights are heading to Dortmund tonight.

Poor old Venlo! Had some good nights out there. It was virtually at the back fence of our ammunition depot and, sorry Strummer, we preferred Holland to Germany.

No worries VP. I spent a lot of time in the Low Countries; my previously employer (before the large German conglomerate) had an office in Utrecht and I used to go for a few days each month, I’ve probably been to most major areas of the Netherlands, I’d say Utrecht and Leiden were my favourites.

I look at Ibrahimovic and can't believe he is 39.

Still the best and most influential player on the pitch.

Scores after 2 minutes and still going as strong as ever.

Can’t be true. Everyone knows players are finished when they are 33.

    Bundesliga records Update:

VfB Stuttgart have claimed outright the all-time record for goals scored in the first minute of matches; no other side can match the sixteen goals that Die Schwaben have poached within sixty seconds of kick-off.

And on goal-scoring, Erling Braut Håland has now scored 18 goals in his first 20 Bundesliga matches. The only man to better that rate was the great Uwe Seeler in 1963/64, when he bagged 19 in 20. Håland - clearly - is a man on a mission.

But this seasons‘ Golden Boot could be going to form already; after five rounds of matches in the league, Robert Lewandowski has already found the back of the net ten times. The FC Bayern man is well on course to better the record - previously thought impossible - of Der Bomber himself, Gerd Müller, who smashed 40 goals in 1971/72.

He’d have taken Messi to one side, talked about it for twenty minutes and decided Mr. Clough was right.

I think Messi would have a thick ear by the end of it too and tucked his shirt in.

Incidentally the ref of that game who gave two non penalties, and made countless other weird decisions has been banned from officiating for a month on account of being shit.

Be nice if the championship could bring in something similar, although we'd struggle for ref's after the first 3 weeks.

Rafa Mir leading the line for Huesca against Real Madrid.

Siampanis and Benalouane had their debut with Aris FC. Siampanis had a couple of spectacular save and kept a clean sheet. Benalouane was reportedly very good, but committed a stupid clear penalty, which, surprisingly, the ref did not give, despite consulting VAR.
