Gigio Donnarumma to PSG is almost done apparently. He will be earning a mere 12m a year by all accounts.

... And the big clubs complain about a system that can't support itself.

Default La Liga/Serie A/Bundesliga/Ligue Un & other World Football Thread

Well, here’s an interesting tale, and another case of an African Player being exploited by a European agent.

VfB Stuttgart‘s exciting attacking player Silas Wamangituka - a personal favourite of mine, who I’ve raved about on here - well, isn’t Silas Wamangituka.

His real name is Silas Katompa Mvumpa, and he’s a year older than his previous papers described. It seems that in an effort by his former agent to break Silas‘ contract with his former Congolese club, when Silas came to Europe, the agent procured new papers in the name of Silas Wamangituka (one of Silas‘ fathers‘ names) and changed his date of birth by one year. The agent then arranged a transfer to Paris FC (from where he subsequently joined VfB).

In France, he was issued a work permit and visa in this „new“ name.

The agent then blackmailed the player into keeping quiet, apparently keeping from
him his wages, and insisting he lived with him, or - it is reported - the agent told him he would lose his football career, and probably be jailed.

Only after his transfer to Stuttgart and his establishment in the first-team, did Silas pluck up the courage to tell the club what had happened. The DFL and DFB were involved, and legal action could well be taken (both by the player and the club) against the agent concerned.

Here’s the official story from the VfB website:

https://www.vfb.de/de/vfb/aktuell/ne...stellungnahme/

It’s a bit shocking that something like this can happen in the modern game.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

It happens all the time with African players. There is loads that aren't as good as Silas so just carry on without saying anything because they know the club might not protect them like Stuttgart have.

Agents all over Africa will pretty much bribe families for money to take their kid to European clubs whether they are good enough or not. Even if they are ridiclously talented that is the only way out. The percentage of players playing for African national teams that actually grew up in Africa is pretty tiny.

Top banter from the Referee, issuing a card there, thoroughly deserved you have to say.

Looks like Viola are going on a massive purchasing spree with some Chiesa left-overs.

Sergio Oliveira (Porto)
Goncalo Guedes (Valencia)
Nico Gonzalez (Stuttgart)

Will be at least 50-60m for those 3.

The price for Nico G is €25m, that I can tell you.

Jadon Sancho news:

Man U have bid €78m for the winger. Dortmund want more than €90m, and the money to be paid over three years, not five (which was what United offered).

There is apparently an unofficial deal done with the player on wages, it is just waiting for the two clubs to agree a fee and terms. It does feel like this one could happen, and if so, it might mean that Die Schwarzgelb hold on to young Håland for another season.

Talking of Silas, after the frankly mind boggling recent events around his identity (see post further up) the DFB have handed down a three month ban, effectively immediately, and a €30.000 fine for the player.

He’ll be ineligible to play now until September 11th, 2021.

As he’s currently injured (and not expected back until October) this is far from a bad outcome.

Haha straight out of the EFL “let’s fine them 1 point less than it would take to relegate them” book of useless punishments.

Despite winning titles it seems all change at Bayern, Inter and Lille with all potentially parting company with their coach (just waiting on Galtier)

Bayern let Boateng & Javi Martinez go. David Alaba to Real Madrid. Tolisso and Coman want to leave too.

Hakimi to Chelsea ?

Maignan to AC Milan. Soumare to Leicester and probably others too.

Even at City with Kun leaving. Laporte and Bernardo Silva want to leave too.
