Our U18s lost 4-3 to Newcastle up north and thrashed the a local side in an pre-season invitational at Newcastle.

The U18s are without a load of players ie Clarridge, Barker, Taylor and a few 16s were involved.

    The left-over 16s & 15s got thrashed 7-0 by Sunderland though.

16s has good players but not a lot of depth. I think Zach Abbott, Tony Gbopo (currently injured), Theo Robinson, Rithchie Ingham & Danny Anisjko has a good chance of getting scholarships along with Alex Li & Elijah Morgan who are certainties.

The 15s is a group in change and might need more in the next year to 18 months. 1 of the best players from the group who we got from Solihull wasn't available but the majority of the squad is new from local teams & Solihull but I think we will have to look to add from the outside as they get closer to scholarship time. They did beat Villa a few weeks ago 5-2 though. They will probably need to be helped out with the best talent of the 14s during the season.

Do you know if the U-23s will continue to play home-games at Murder Lane next season Bryan?

    As It's Baggio says, Otis.

3 venues used. Fairly even split.

Impact Arena : Southampton, Newcastle,Stoke, Fulham

Meadow Lane : Birmingham, West Brom, Aston Villa, Sunderland

City Ground : Burnley, Norwich, Reading, Wolves, Middlesbrough

Leicester's local rag boasting that us getting Cat 1 has earned them a reprieve to stay in Division 1. It's true but so weird how they tried to use it as something to knock us with.

    „Small Man Syndrome“.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

U23 team lost to Barrow First team 1-0 yesterday. But it was used to give the periphery first teamers time as well.

    https://www.nottinghamforest.co.uk/n...out-by-Barrow/

    Smith
    Richardson Fernandes Harbottle Sanders
    Bachirou Arter Wylie
    McAdam Hammond
    Swan

    Subs:
    46' Trialist for Fernandes
    60' Donnelly for Harbottle
    60' Jenkinson for Hammond
    60' McDonnell for McAdam
    60' Osong for Swan
Looks like there might have been other subs not mentioned

New name in the starting XI is Reece Wylie. A midfielder from Aldershot. Chelsea were linked with him just over a year ago : https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/footb...t-reece-wylie/

So with them naming him he might have signed.

Am I right in remembering Barrow are the team that played proper nice football and got promoted out of the national league on a shoestring?

Not sure on the style of football but it was the first time they were in the football league in decades. Pretty sure their coach Ian Evatt jumped ship immediately after promotion to Bolton & promoted them to L1 last season ?

Wasn't he responsible for bringing some of the big names through at Man U when Fergie was there?

    If that's him it's a cracking appointment.

Surprised he is in at that age group, great appointment that. The perks of being a Cat 1 Academy I suppose.

Interesting comment from Charlie McParland in the return of Teamtalk prior to the start of the new season. His opinion is that Forest have done things arse-about-face, in that promotion to the Premier League, with 3/4 seasons of consolidation achieved before even thinking about Category 1 academy level.

He added that the priority this summer should have been the recruitment of a £10-15m striker

Not sure I would pay much attention to anything McParland says.
Always get the impression that his comments are tinged with sour grapes.

Don't get me wrong, I don't. Also, he clearly struggles to disguise his bitterness about not being fully involved in football, other than occasionally doing bits-and-pieces of scouting work. Without saying a word about the appointment, the look of contempt he displayed when they ran a clip of an interview with Dane Murphy was plain to see.

I just thought his comment would be of interest given his previous history as a NFFC academy and development coach.

It makes me cringe at the thought of McParland being involved in the Forest setup for so many years.

He is summed up by the story (that he tells, by the way) of when he told Sven he knows nothing about football, and brought up his poor performance as England manager - because he was going to bring in Ronaldo or Shevchenko on loan at Notts, but McParland stated he was happy with Luke Rodgers instead because he didn't know league Two

Good to see Elijah Morgan getting back in the England mix after a tough period with injuries.

    Spot another Bellingham.

I could imagine McParland saying “what have you come as?” to Dane when he turned up in his cream jacket!

Who is Oliver Hammond? He is the only one of the squad who has passed me by.

All-action Centre-mid and signed his first pro contract in March. Gives Colback ginger competition.

Can tackle and wants the ball and is smart. Just want him to add a goal or 2 now. Grew up through the age groups with Fin Back. Only 2 local boys that remain from their age group.

Last season he was in an u18 line-up along with his brother Ben Hammond (new scholar this season). I couldn't remember when that last happened ? I thought of the Otim's but I think it is the Dawson's.
