Fair play to Wycombe but I can't help but feel that it's wrong.

There was still 25% of the season to play - not an insignificant amount. Absolutely no taking into account form, difficulty of fixtures left, home/away etc. Such criteria won't make 10 point differences, but they might make 5, and at with the difference between 2nd place and 8th seperated by 3 points then ending the season early on PPG is just an utter farce.

Oxford will feel short changed. Sitting in 3rd, right on heels of Rotherham. So too Petetborough, barged out the play-offs to accomodate Wycombe despite having the best goal difference in the league which means that they over 11 more games would have probably ended up challenging for the top two.

Worst thing is is that the EFL told the clubs what the decision matrix would be and then left it for the clubs to vote rather. Leaving it to a vote means that:
    - Coventry and Rotherham knew they would be promoted.
    - Fleetwood and Portsmouth knew they would be guaranteed top six.
    - Wimbledon, MK Dons, Rochdale knew they would avoid relegation.
    - Bunch of clubs in the middle who had no hope of going up or down could end season earlier and reduce their cost base.

Utter farce. The EFL should have been decisive in taking an action they thought was right. Leaving it to the clubs to vote in their own self interest shows how incompetent and weak they are.

I'm glad the Championship restarted if that was the alternative.

Does anyone know what that lone person was chanting for large periods of time for Wycombe? He did it at the previous two games. There was a brief shot of their radio commentator who seemed to be shouting it!

I was watching their 2nd leg v Fleetwood and my wife happened to look at the tv and see him walking along the touchline just before the start of the second half.

She asked me if a pisshead had managed to get into the ground

Salary cap in League One and League Two, effective immediately.

Will / should the Championship follow?

Portsmouth are still in last season's EFL Trophy but have been eliminated from this season's EFL Trophy.

    Default SKYBET LEAGUE 1

The Athletic are reporting that the planned salary cap for League One and League Two is to be scrapped, following a player-backlash.

Not convinced that is a good thing for sustainability of the league pyramid, but of course, turkeys aren’t going to vote for Christmas, are they?

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

The problem with the salary cap is it has only made the gap between the Championship and the rest even wider. That's the problem with these type of financial micro managing restrictions. Yes they're well meaning but all they really do is stifle competition.

Completely agree. A salary cap would only work if its applied across all leagues. At the moment we have a ridiculous situation where a big club like Sunderland can only offer a player £2k per week, whereas a small Championship club like Rotherham are able to blow them out of the water financially with relative ease (despite their income being far less than a club like Sunderland). Its a bit of a joke.

As things are at the moment, the League 1 and 2 salary cap and FFP both just widen the gap between the haves and the have nots.

Paul Lambert gone from Ipswich and an American takeover on the cards. Are the two events connected? Paul Cook favourite for the position of manager.

How Paul Cook hasn't had a job yet is beyond me. If Hughton had turned us down I'd have been immediately on the phone!

It's very strange that Paul Cook hasn't gotten a job at least a top half Championship club after what he did at Wigan. Surely he can do better than Ipswich?

Managers probably still see Ipswich as a club that should be top half of the Championship. Haven't they just been taken over too? A bit of scope to do a very good longer term job. Probably saw it as potentially a better move than a number of Championship jobs anyway, given the average length of tenure in the Championship..

Anyone else seen the Peterborough penalty decision? The penalty that sends them up at the expense of their opponents Lincoln in the 96th minute?

Can't imagine how they're feeling right now. Every bit as bad as Stroud vs WBA for us.

At last, I've got a reason to dislike Ipswich
