So my first experience of live music in over a year ... a rockabilly band playing in one of the arches under the suspension bridge on Victoria embankment yesterday evening.

Not really what I would have planed, but respect to the drummer for setting up a full kit

Just bought tickets for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds at the Residenzschloss in Rastatt Germany on 3rd August. It will be my first live give since seeing Sabaton in Stuttgart way back in January 2020

OK... I just made a complete balls up, I saw 3rd August and got all excited and booked tickets without a moments thought. So now I just calmed down a bit and read it again it's 3rd August 2022

Oh well it's something to look forward to..

I did that with a Jimmy Carr gig a few years back. I didn’t even know you could book gigs that far in advance.

I was supposed to be going to see the Flaming Lips on the 19th postponed from last year but they've postponed again.

Thankfully Tramlines has the go-ahead for 2 weeks on Friday.

Richard Ashcroft pulled out yesterday but he's been replaced by Supergrass which I'm alright with:

Yeah and on the early bird tickets it was only £45 for the whole weekend this time round, worth it even if you only like a couple of bands.

I'm seeing Blinders, Little Simz and Royal Blood over the next year and my tickets for Royal Blood were probably more than that ticket

Every time I look at it I find someone else I'd like to see. Would love to see Sophie and The Giants

Haven't been to a gig since June 2004, saw Mary J Blige supported by Chaka Khan at the NEC.

Just before the first lockdown, I got a sudden urge to find some to go to and found War Of The Worlds for March 2021, Hazel O'Connor for June 2020 and Kiki Dee for September 2020. Of course I haven't been to any of them yet due to multiple postponements and have also booked in 4 more.

So, I'm now anticipating (though not building up my hopes too much), for

    Kiki Dee next month
    Blondie plus Garbage November
    Vampires Rock in February
    Hazel O'Connor in March
    WOTW in March
    10CC in March
    Four Tops/Temptations/Odyssey October 2022

New Order on Friday night, was bloody good. Next up, The Streets and the Hacienda Classical in a few weeks. The benefit of living in Manchester, there's something on all the time.

The Ronnie Scott's Club house-band at Nottingham Playhouse on Friday night-last.

Tales of Soho nights accompanied by some wonderful jazz.

HRH Goth fest - Kentish Town & Country Club or whatever its called now (showing my age there I guess).

2 days of Darkwave stuff I've never heard of headlined by Fields of the Nephilim (they are the reason I went, yes I'm stuck in the 80s).

Good weekend in London and the tickets were free. Most of the bands were forgettable but a few were pleasant surprises.

The draught beer was appallingly bad and probably shockingly expensive, I'll find out when the visa bill comes.

I've added another one to my upcoming gigs (after 17+ gigless years). The Stranglers at Sheffield City Hall in February. That takes it to 8 forthcoming.

Continuing my tradition of watching a gig at home on a Friday evening after the soaps have ended (est: Just after the start of first lockdown), tonight it's going to be The Stranglers Friday the Thirteenth. Watching it on DVD, though I did get it on vhs about 20 years ago, stuck in on when my Dad was visiting and it got him into the Stranglers (he had always liked Golden Brown though). He even bought the Greatest Hits 77-90 shortly afterwards.
