Looks like Zoe pipped me to this joke on the Derby thread. Great minds and all.

30/09/2021: It's only 8 points to the play-offs. Doesn't matter if we're 20th having lost three times as many games as we've won so far. I fancy us now that Hughton's gone.

I feel for poor old Marino Rahmburg (?) in this debacle. We forget that there are some decent fans over there hanging their heads and wondering how they got to this point (or minus three points).

We went through a minor crisis only recently and that seemed the end; imagine how it must be ten times worse.

I know I'm glad to be on this side of the fence.

30 goals in the last 10 games from Fulham - that is insane!

Is that the most goals a team has scored in modern history in this league over the same period? Surely it will be up there. Mitrovic would probably bag 20 in a decent Prem side.

Apart from our lofty position, the thing which pleases me most about that table is that they show the goals scored and conceded. So often these days, they just show the goal difference which means very little until you actually know the totals.

John Fleck is fortunately out of hospital after collapsing in the Sheff U vs Reading match last night.

This isn't stopping the anti-vaxxers assuming he's jabbed and that's why... They don't even know if he's had it, and footballers collapsed before covid vaccines were a thing.

As is Colin Wanker, he might fancy a nostalgic trip back to the blunts?

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

Paul Higginbotham appointed at Sheffield United.

At least they’ve gone „native“ this time.

Absolutely mental, isn't it? The worst manager in the Championship IMO, contracted until 2026.

Might be worth a cheeky fiver on them going down.

It sums them up as a club though doesn't it?

They were extremely lucky Wilder came in and hit a winning formula. They were a mid table League One side before he rocked up, he spent almost nothing and got them to the Prem with a bunch of Championship rejects, then they wasted a load of money on Championship players in the Prem.

Unless they do a swift McLeish-esque u-turn and bin Feckingbottom quickly (unlikely given the length of his contract), they may well end up back where they were before Wilder took over. As you say, they got really lucky with Wilder but that masked the fact that they are still not ran much differently to how they were ran in League One.

It’s crazy to give any new manager a deal that long nowadays, let alone a shit one like Heckingbottom.

It probably has numerous clauses involved, if they fail to reach the playoffs for example he might be due no compo. When Moyes was sacked by Man Utd they only paid up a year because he had a champions league clause even though it was a 6 year deal.

A length of contract means nothing.

A sensible club would of course include those sort of clauses in a managers contract that had such a length.

Though if they are daft enough to appoint Feckingbottom in the first place, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they were also foolish enough not to include such clauses.

Regardless of the length of contract, its a hilarious appointment that sends out all the wrong messages. I'd be absolutely fucking furious if I was a Sheffield United fan.

Some interesting figures posted on the Notts County forum today.
Total overall seasons spent in the 2nd tier.
    1.Barnsley-78
    2.Leicester-62
    3.Hull-61
    4.Forest-58
    4.Birmingham-58
    6.Fulham-56
    7.Bristol City-54
    7.Derby-54
    9.Grimsby-52
    10.Blackpool-51

These figures tell me that Brian Clough had Forest(and Derby)punching above their normal weight.

Do they have the same stats for the fifth tier?
