At this rate, we'll have to have bigger squads to cope with the matchday selections. Because they are surely not going to stop at 5 subs. Soon we'll have the full squad of 25 on duty every match and a full eleven turnover at half time to cope with the pressure on the player's delicate constitutions.

And before you know it we will be bringing on defensive specialists to defend a corner, or a free kick specialist or whatever

And TV can run more ads during each substitution or changeover or whatever the wankers will call it

It gave me the incentive to change the channel to the repeats of Midsomer Murders/Endeavour when the game was stinking the place out.

You can't change the rules part way through and still claim the competition has integrity.

    Twats.
Let's be honest it needed changing because the scheduling is such a disgrace.

They are fitting a schedule into a caldender with 2 less months than normal. The whole thing is an absolute joke, there should have been no cup competitions at a minimum - or a reduced Championship season of 36 games.

The Championship is too big over a full calender year, cramming that same schedule into a period shorter by 2 months in insanity.

This next round of fixtures is going to be a clusterfuck of injuries, terrible games & completely random results - throw in Covid infections of certain teams and possible postponements (I think the Champ/Prem has been incredibly lucky to avoid them so far). That goes for every team, you simply CANNOT coach a side to play 12 games in 40 days, just over a game every 3 days for over a month.

They have only changed these rules because they are realising the insanity of the scheduling.

That's a total brainwashed skysports opinion imo Raz. Sorry duk.

Relax the training to gentle exercise (a few pints in the changing rooms) and it's easily done.

    Stop pandering these fukin snowflakes.

Heard Nutts manager moaning on radio that it's killing their chances of getting up the league because of so few games in the last few months. Every excuse in the book is rolled out for all these so called players.

    Life of Riley.

Medical science is not skysports opinion Ray me old mate.

These are professional athletes being given no time to prepare or recover.

Players now cover almost triple the amount of ground they did in the good old days when players were boozing and overweight.

You either play the season or you don't. Rather than reducing the championship game amount you could have ditched the European games and the stupid international breaks we have had. They should have then been used for the players to rest or to spread the games out a bit more.

Reducing championship games or getting rid of domestic cups only benefits the big clubs in the long run

Mind you, the players have the benefit of playing on perfect surfaces throughout the season these days, unlike in the past when there would be sucking, ankle deep mud pulling at your feet from October onwards and the ball doing crazy things in the conditions. Plus they were playing with a ball made of natural leather which weighed a ton when even slightly damp. Compare that to the plastic balls used now.

Lightweight boots and lightweight kit to help them along. Plus the weather; we don't have Winter these days, just the occasional spot of frost which disappears before lunch. Have you seen the snow in 1947 or the Winter of 1963?

Life might be tough for the footballer of today, but they don't know they are born. And I haven't even started on the financial rewards.

    Brentford v QPR tonight.

Both teams look a class above us.

    Worrying.

What will Toney go for next summer (if Brentford don't go up) - £30m? A snip at £5m + add on's anyway. Been brilliant evey time I've seen him.

Brentford don't look as convincing as last season though. Osayi Samuel a handful for the R's.

Yeah, Toney looks better than I thought he was to be fair.

I knew he was decent but so far in his first Championship season he's showing he belongs in the league above.
