We've debated and polled Rafik Zoheir Djebbour and Matthew Anthony Derbyshire recently, many more too, so why not Simon Richard Cox as well?
Simon Cox will soon complete two years of his three year contract with NFFC - well what do you think?
A keeper or not?
No stats from me - just looking for opinions with the poll![]()
COYR's
A professional footballer who considers himself a forward should not be offside as much as he is. Doesn't have a facet of his game I'd consider above average.
He looked mint at the start. Hasn't been flying since that patch of injury, not sure exactly why.
I think he's decent, but can't imagine he's the kind of guy that wants to be back up, so may be better to rid
Not impressed me this season. I can't remember a Forest 'striker' caught offside so much. Time for him to go.
Unsure.
I can't figure out what is going on with him. He looked good up until his injury, then we had a change of managers and he hasn't been the same since. Also lost his place for Ireland...
It's not been a good environment for strikers, but he has to improve. Works hard but nowhere near enough goals and must be on a decent wage.
Lost patience with him a long time ago. He needs a change of club. I haven't rated him for a long time.

Keep. I think he is our best striker ATM and is capable at this level. Just needs the right service/role within the side.
When he got a few goals earlier in the season, I thought this it, he's back. Then he went quiet again.
Like Derbyshire, is he one of the best of a bad bunch? Squad striker maybe worth 1 year extension to improve, or are we playing him wrong? I just don't know.
He's only got 8 goals this year, only slightly more than his 5 last year, not good enough really. We need our main striker and more importantly strike partnership to be getting 15-20 goals each. Think Pearce will probably just keep him as back up.

Keep him on his current contract for now.
Stand Firm And Strike Hard
Lose some pounds. Get a bit sharper, faster over a yard, and he might not have to run offside. He is talented enough.

Sick to death of all our so called strikers.
They need numerous chances to get one goal, we need a clinical man who you just know will put chances away time and time again.
We haven't got one and all we hear about is Vokes Nugent Ings Austin McCormack Martin Deeney Vardy etc
This^
We need better for our prime, numero uno striker, but Cox is more than sufficient back up and gives us a different option too. Players like Miller will be wank under 90% of managers, whereas Cox is decent enough to afford a bit more time and a fresh approach from Pearce. I actually quite rate him, but he's become to comfy being a workhorse and needs to have his creativity/flare encouraged again.
Can see hi going to Sheff U for 500-800k and scoring loads in L1 though
We dont need to sign him up again yet, doubt we would get much for him, maybe 500k
Was it the TAP that agreed his 2m fee? Some of the worst business we've done in recent years. If someone offered us 500k I would accept it and to free up wages. I suspect SP will give him a chance in preseason but then he hasn't witnessed his mostly inept performances the last couple of years. Personally I've seen enough to know he needs a new challenge. No managers at Forest have managed to get much out of him. Some will say SOD did but any form has only been fleeting.
I think we should keep him as he is but get someone else in during the summer. He's not worth much based on his current performance so we'll just have to let his contract run down and then get rid. Backup next season.
I think we will have no choice but to keep him for next season as nobody else will pay his reputed wages .keep him as backup or get him out on loan having to pay a portion of his wages will be the choice SP has next season IMO
Can we float him on the stock market?
If he was an attacking midfielder I could forgive his goals to game ratio, but as a striker I expect him to strike. Misses one-on-ones and runs offside too much for me.
Mackie is almost in the same league, but at least he has the excuse of being a sort of winger who runs tirelessly and puts himself about.
Cox just waits for the ball. At least Derbyshire goes hunting for it.
Not bothered if he goes.
He'll do a Derbyshire and hit form in the last 5 games of next year.
Those could be the goals to keep us in the Prem.
The team as whole are not scoring enough goals and keeping enough clean sheets he is part of the current problem fans who back him have to be certain he will come good I do not think he will. Time to bring in some young dynamic players or proven championship goalscorers.
He is a good forward, not a good striker. He drops off well, links play and his assist rate is impressive. He looks a bit heavy this season though to me.
I would definitely keep him.
