In the second half, we played decently for 15 minutes, equalized, lost another chance, and then Arsenal scored with the scorer clearly fouling the defender (elbow on his head). The ref did not even bother to check the VAR. Then we collapsed and Arsenal scored a third one, effectively eliminating us.

The structure of Champions League and the Europa League (and now the Conference League) is completely rotten. There are about 20 clubs so rich that they effectively rule the Champions League, and the system of points awarded actually penalizes clubs like ours, which compete every year in the Champions League and make it to third place and the knockout phase of the Europa League. Clubs playing the group stage of the Europa League and having a favourable draw get a lot more points than us, despite the fact that the difference between the two competitions at the group stage is abysmal. The result is that we are in danger of falling to the fourth group of the Champions League, which means that we will have even less chances of progressing, which means that we will get even fewer points, etc.
I thought the chance ElArabi had to make it 2-1 was the best move of the game by either side.

Just go back to the old system, Champions League for League Champions. Change the Europa League to the Cupwinners Cup, for cup winners.

Sorted. I've cut out all those games the managers don't like but then cry about when they don't qualify. Instead of guaranteeing enormous sums for coming 4th every season, make them win something or fall back into the pack.

You'll never get a job at UEFA with that sort of sensible approach

De Bruyne scores City’s 100th goal this season, and what a beauty it was.

For Gladbach, ever since Marco Rose announced he was off to Borussia Dortmund next season, their form has absolutely cratered.

It’s not just the wheels falling off, the engine has seized up, the gearbox has exploded, and the aircon compressor has blown up.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

It seems like it would have been a plan to hire someone else as soon as the news hit. Knowing the gaffer has ditched you for a better option would knock the wind out of you a bit.

PSG are my favourites to buy it this season. Especially with Poch in charge

& if they don't they'll just win the summer spending competition to make sure they buy the CL for next season

Good news! Samu is starting up front for Milan tonight.

.. That means we're playing without a forward. Awesome! It's like watching forest.

Man City have played without a striker for most of the season and scored 100 goals. I know that's not what you mean, but

I‘m watching Dortmund against Man City on German telly, there’s a brilliant pre-match interview with Jude Bellingham and his mum (who he lives with and who looks after him) about his life in Dortmund.

    He’s absolutely loving it.

You can see why people think it's rigged.

By "relegation battle", do you mean 7th, 12th or 14th?

At normal speed I can see why it's given as a foul, but they have VAR which makes blowing up a bizarre decision.

Yeah I just saw that and don’t understand how it’s a foul, to give a yellow is crazy and to blow before the lad puts it in the net is ridiculous as well.

It makes me laugh because you see all these “get foreign refs in the PL” comments when one of ours stuffs up but you can tell those people don’t watch foreign football because they give fouls for fucking anything And that wouldn’t fly here. Foreign officiating is equally wank.

Possibly even more concerning was the Refs Romanian lino mate getting Haaland's autograph in full view of the cameras after the game.

    1984 Anderlect anybody?

Better it was after the game than before

I think it’s probably pretty harmless, maybe it was for his kid or something?

The bloke may well never officiate a game involving Haaland again anyway.

It’s probably still worth asking him the question but I doubt it’s anything.
