Nobody wants or wanted Tudgay though.

Why do you think Davies offered him another year and hasn't played him yet?

He was enticed by the Chelski rouble. We needed the money as Doughty was pulling out of the club. What more is there to discuss. People forget how bad things were. We effectively had no owner. If Fawaz hadn't come in we could have gone the same way as Coventry. Patrick Bamford was the least of our worries. £1.5M kept us afloat and the same with the sale of Morgan.

Did all of that money go into the running of the club or on transfers?

I think the Bamford and Morgan money was used to finance the loans and free agents we took on.

    Including "goal machine" Harewood

Why didn't he just not bother resigning him? Would have saved a year of pointless wages.

Top scorer in English football at this stage of the season. May be available for loan in January. Would you have him back to help us get promoted?

I imagine he'll want to stay at MK and bag as many as he can. If he hits the big 30 it'll do him good

Typical though intit, for the first time in decades, the club develops and nurtures a genuine goalscorer, only for him to be sold for what could eventually turn out to be a song.

I wonder what clauses there were in that deal.

It would be quite bittersweet if he came here and started bagging goals.

Don't know if Chelsea will be in a rush to do us a favour, the NC signing has been a disaster so far.

Maybe we should have tried to loan him.
& No matter how good he turns out, he'll never make the grade at Chelsea........if his name was Patrickio Bamfordio maybe so.

If NC isn't good enough then he doesn't have the right to be in the team. We're doing them the favour by paying his extortionate wages.

We were covered by ND's estate until the start of the following season. We could continue to operate as we were at the time of his death, we just couldn't spend anymore than we already were doing. The issue we had was, as far as we as fans knew anyway, there was no new investment for August at that time.

The sale of Bamford and Morgan was more than necessary IMO. Not only cutting our losses a bit in anticipation of complete funding withdrawal but also because it paved way for a handful of loanees to come in. The likes of Guedioura and even Higginbotham at the time made a big difference in my opinion, combined with the arrival of SOD it saw the turnaround that eventually kept us in this division.

From what I recall Clark said at the time him and his father wanted out anyway and were quite forceful with their intent. The only thing that frustrates me most about the whole Bamford situation, is his introduction into a side that wasn't scoring at all was just something we really needed to do at the time. Nobody was coming in, none of our first team strikers were scoring and he was banging them in at a ridiculous rate. It was so frustrating to watch it unfold but it sounds like even if we were wealthy as hell, keeping him would've been difficult.

Remember his contract was up in the summer anyway, regardless of whether he was intent on leaving or not we would not have been renewing his deal because of the financial situation, so it was undoubtedly the best deal at the time. We made £1.5m from a player that had not and was not playing and more importantly wasn't staying. It's very easy to sit here now without the financial issues and say "we should never have sold him"… Given that time again and those circumstances I would certainly hope the club would do the same.

Bamford wanted out anyway, so we did the only thing we could do.

He played for Ireland once at under age level before turning out for England in his later years.

If he sees himself as an Englishman then he should stick at it because there aren't many quality strikers around and Jay Rodriguez and Rickie Lambert have shown it's possible to go from not being in the frame at all to getting your chance. Bamford could find himself in the senior squad with a good two seasons.

That makes me feel a whole lot better. As Ravi said - move on.
The difference is that Arsenal had a whole load of talent ahead of Lansbury so could afford to let him go so cheaply. Would he get in their first team right now ahead of Ramsey, Diaby, Cazorla, Rosicky, Arteta, Flamini, Wilshere, Ozil?

Whereas for us, just think about how good it'd be right now with Bamford up front......
