I think retro gaming in general is getting more popular, especially with a lot of modern games being a 50 hour slog.

I bought a Super Nintendo the other year and still get it out on a regular basis as the catalogue of games is amazing on it, I was too young to experience it in its hey day but it doesn’t stop me enjoying it now.

Definitely mate. The 16-bit era way my gaming prime, and me & mates have always bemoaned the fact that so many games modern take FOREVER to get anywhere.

Don't get me wrong, a good 30-40 hour RPG has it's place, but so many amazing games you can run through in 20-60min. The arcade experience is a sorely missed one.

What SNES games do you thrive on? I'm just replaying my collection now. Around 100 down, about 900 to go

I don’t have too many at the minute as prices have been going wild.

The games I have are Super Mario World, Super Mario All Stars, Street Fighter 2, Donkey Kong Country and Super Metroid.

Super Mario Bros 3 is one of my favourite games of all time so All Stars spends a lot of time in my console.

Yeah, prices are going nuts. I sold an old copy of Secret of Mana for £140 a few years back, crackers!

Looks like you've 5 of the big hitters there already. Could never get on with DCK but love the rest You got your eyes on any others?

And you thought about getting a Megadrive or Megadrive mini?

I suck so bad at those older games

I’ve been playing Just Cause 4 because it’s super easy you just grapple and fly around blasting the shit out of stuff so it’s fun to play for half an hour between dinner, putting kiddo to bed then going to sleep. If you playedbit continuously for hours every day it’s extremely boring and repetitive though.

Same with Dirt 4. I started it last year and didn’t play it for months then recently I would do about 6 races in one go every now and then until I completed it.

Both on gamepass as well, as will Forza Horizon 5 be. So between those bigger games and the odd really good indie title, it’s good for someone with limited time.

Whenever something like GTA 6 or Red Dead 3 comes out I’ll probably book a week off

I didn't really get back into gaming big time until my health went to shit, but it did surprise me how easy some of the more modern games were to complete. Everyone goes on about Dark Souls and whilst challenging for sure, I always tell them if they're after a real challenge to try The Immortal without a guide, the game where they pinched the "Prepare to Die" phrase from for Dark Souls.

Well they are quite big on inclusivity these days and a lot of games you can have them super easy or very difficult if you want.

Assassin’s Creed Origins I think it was even had a non combat exploration mode which was a pretty cool idea.

Posted it in the Free Games thread, but got to pop it here too because I'm gobsmacked such a set of good games are free. All 3 recent Shadowrun games free on GOG.

First 2 games are easily two of the best Cyberpunk games I've ever played.

Yes mate. GOG is an app you can play games on for your PC.

Mine's an old clapped out bit of kit I bought from work for £50, so if that can run any PC game I recommend chances are it'll run on most machines.

The Shadowrun series is fantastic. Both SNES & Megadrive games are decent, but Returns & Dragonfall are top notch, Hong Kong OK but a bit too text-heavy.

Half my collection is free or really cheap games. There's some corkers on there like X-com '94 and Hard West. Hard West you can get for under £2, and it's cool as fuck, Wild West roots sprinkled with Satanic undertones.....

No probs dude. I love it. Just drips with atmosphere and the strategy is both different and fun.

Playing through Final Fantasy 7 Remake again on the PS5 version. You forget just how tactical and involved the combat is, I love it.

Also having now played it at 60fps I have no idea how I ever played it at 30.
