Completed around 200 odd games from the 16-bit era so far and, whilst the SNES' best games are off the scale, the Megadrive is winning so far for go-to games.

Really enjoyed 'stranded deep' Bit clunky in parts but the set-up and ambience is great.

3rd game's a bit lame, but the first two are fucking brilliant. Cyperpunk done right.

I've been lost to the world playing it. Just surviving is so hard but once you're set up and you think it's time to hop to another island or explore that wreck a bit further out/down it kicks you in the bollocks.

The 15 best games of the 1980s:

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

Nice one. Oh joy when you got the auto-docking system! I like how they've gone for a broad selection of genres and formats there. Definitely iconic games.

A few big arcade misses on that list though for me, maybe they should have upped it to 20:

*Afterburner & Space Harrier - I know they've kinda covered that family by putting Outrun there, but the cabs were legendary.
    *Paperboy
    *Defender
    *Gauntlet
    *R-Type
    *Double Dragon

But I can understand why they've opted for other games in most cases. They should have spent more time down Skeggy.

Personally it does make me laugh that Master System Wonderboy 3: The Dragon's Trap never gets a look in on these lists. I played the PS4 remake a few months back, and it holds up fantastically.

Got a Switch off ebay for £200 with Mario Kart. It's virtually brand new, bargain. Son is happy, Mrs wants Zelda now

I can't believe their are holding their value like that. I wanted one for ages but cannot justify paying that price, especially when the improved more powerful version is about to be announced.

My mate has just got one for his daughter. I will wait for the more powerful version to come out and swipe an older model on the cheap

To be fair, couple of hundred for a good system is nothing. The game prices are pretty wild though. Trying to find Zelda, Super Mario Party and Sonic and Mario at the Olympics for under £30 on eBay is tough.

Enter the Curry's draw if you haven't already.

I got mine last month that way. Saves you wasting your times fighting bots.

Pretty much all forms of entertaining yourself are holding their value in this climate.

The shortage of chips needed for games consoles / graphics cards / whatever components that also has a shortage is just making all the prices of stuff stay high, and will probably all rise in the future.

I bet Playstation & Xbox wished they sold their consoles for more. They probably could have got an extra £100 out of the new consoles.

I read that in the rhythm of Tia Carrere from Wayne's World "I'd raise the bridge, file down the nut, and take the buzz out the low E"

Anyone think it's a bit telling that the Megadrive is still going toe to toe with the latest PC's and Nintendo Switch?

That's a hell of an achievement for a 30 year old system.

    Forza Horizon 5…

That’s me sorted for next year pretty much the only game I’m bothered about these days. Set in Mexico this time, nice.

In Brazil they still sell the mega drive as being brand new.
