Thing is though, they are not doing a generic 'Cyberpunk' game. They are doing a Cyberpunk by Michael Pondsmith game, who is involved creating the game. Thinking you know better than the original creator just seems futile to me?

Which is fair enough, but they've taken the Cyberpunk franchise specifically, then made a game which doesn't look or feel anything like it.

Just seems bizarre, and sets the whole thing up oddly.

Not really Fred. In most media from music to films to games, there's more than 1 person involved, and the creations of the artists, actors, producers etc. involved are as big a part of shaping any form of entertainment.

I'd say Cyberpunk, and the mass perception of what cyberpunk is in general, has an image & vibe associated with it that's absolutely light years away from what we're seeing in this game.

Yes just my opinion, but also the opinion of fans of the series where I got the screenshots from.

Bladerunner, Shadowrun, Deus Ex - they capture the cyberpunk vibe for me. This just looks awful and way off base. Again, only in my opinion, and those who are fans of the game, so you're average gamer might not care & thrive on it.

It also ties-in with using Keanu Reeves to promote it.

You think Cyberpunk + Reeves, you get „The Matrix“, and that’s William Gibson.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

Yeah, good shout & credit there. Reeves is a top choice for promo for that reason. Exactly the thought process I went through.

I’m not sure what the criticism is... that it doesn’t look like pre-existing material? If it did they would be accused of plagiarism.

Doesn’t look too far removed from said existing material to me, just more futuristic and like I said before, very shiny and bright, which is their choice to go with that aesthetic for whatever reasons.

I personally think the Art style and direction is pretty wank. Looks like a fallout 4 mod.

If this game turns out to be a disappointment CD Projekt Red's reputation is shot. 8 years in development hell, Overworking their staff and not even informing their staff before the public in regards to delays.

If anything at least these delays and talks on Employee crunch has opened up dialogue regarding working conditions in the Game Industry

Chap was only paid $430 a month for facial animations in The Witcher 3. They really, really, really need to unionise.

I wonder if it's to try and draw the Fortnite crowd in.

On the flipside, the whole dark and dingy thing has been done to death.

It’s a Lucasarts game, same guys who did Monkey Island. They’ve put another couple on game pass too - Grim Fandango and Full Throttle so I’ll be giving them a go as well.

Two weeks until I get my PS5, if Amazon don't cancel my order. Getting excited now.

I am not! But there is access to a load of PS4 games I want to play and they are free to PS Plus subscribers on PS5, so I will be playing Bloodborne and Days Gone on it initially. Apparently they have just released a 25gb performance upgrade patch for Days Gone ready for PS5.

I was considering Demon Souls but I do not do well with difficult games so decided to play Bloodborne first to see if I have grown out of my controller throwing tantrums.

I cannot figure out if Godfall looks good or not.

Got 2 weeks off coming up and house move isn’t happening yet so caved in and ordered the new Assassin’s Creed as a treat for myself. Had £25 in my Game rewards account so didn’t pay full whack anyway.
