I know how difficult the national league is.

I also don't disagree that Ardley may have finished in the playoffs, the timing of the sacking was poor but equally I just think Ardley is a poor manager & is one of the reasons they are in that league to begin with. He was given a lot of time there.

They just happen to replace him with a PE teacher & not a football manager.

I think he's all right as a manager, but I agree he had no experience of getting a team out of that league. There was not a lot on his CV to suggest he was the man to get them out. I wouldn't have better on them going up.

But the time to replace him was surely at the end of the season if he failed to win promotion again this season. Any time any club is sitting in the play-offs in the National League, no matter how big they think they are for that league, they shouldn't rock the boat. In particular that's true of the National League because of the one automatic spot.

Tranmere, Bristol Rovers, Grimsby, Cambridge, Exeter, Wimbledon, Carlisle, Doncaster, and on all failed to get automatic promotion from that league.

What they've done by changing it earlier, as well as looking like they've messed up their chance of promotion through the play-offs, is ensured the new guy starts next season already under pressure because of the way this season is now ending. So potentially they've hampered their efforts for two seasons.

Yeah I generally agree, you should never sack a manager whilst in the playoffs even if you deem it as unachieving.

How many games are left for Notts in that league?

I had a look and it looked like they're playing well into June...?

Six for Notts. Play offs will be June.

Will they be in them? They're making a right pigs ear of what looked a simple task a few months ago

That was a good result this week. I wouldn't bet on it though.

Forgot they existed but they giving Maidenhead a right beating tonight.

They've turned the corner in the last week. I thought they had shot it this season.

Strange situation, Notts could end up at Wembley and I won't be able to pick up a ticket because they could sell out their allocation to season tickets, members and whatnot. Won't ever happened again.

The other week they were 12-1 for promotion so I got a tenner on. Just to compensate my disappointment if they do go up.

Three of the four goals were conceded by an outfield player between the sticks after the goalkeeper had to go off injured, and they didn't have a specialist one on the bench.

They've hit form at the right time. If they can make 3rd and guarantee a home play off semi final I can see them winning it.

Scratch that. Just looked at the table and the highest they can finish now is 4th (and Hartlepool have a game.in hand). Even so, they're in with a fighting chance.

Going to need to win three games, but form in the last month makes that look possible.

Could be set up for a nice Chesterfield v Notts playoff derby.

Just seen that the final is at Ashton Gate if they get there which looks unlikely...

39-year-old Nathan Tyson comes on to play for Chesterfield. I can't believe he's still going...

Wow, I'd forgotten how biased radio commentators could be. The RN Notts commentators are not a patch on the Forest ones for appreciating the oppositions moves.

I quite enjoyed listening in. My heart wasn’t in my throat like it would have been if it were Forest.

Last minute play-off winner against Chessie. Keith will be turning in his forum grave.
