    Default Derbyshire - 20 goal-a-season striker?

Well Psychospike, it is that time already (07/07/2013)...

Could Matt Derbyshire by the 20 goal a season striker we've been looking for?

Looked very good last night and was unlucky not to score... A couple of people have mentioned Ishmael "Physio's Table" Miller, but I don't think he will have the consistency/long enough avoidance of injury.

Be happy with 10 goals and 7 assists. He's better at putting players through on goal.

I think he is capable of scoring goals but he is too thick to realise he is on to a good thing. He did well at Blackburn and Olympiakos but he didn't even score than many goals at Oldham so hopefully some one will come in and take hi, off our hands.

He had a half decent game against Hibs, but lets not get too carried away.

These are Matt Derbyshire's career stats (Club record since 2003 according to wiki):
    - 10 Years
    - 175 Professional appearances
    - 36 Goals
    - Goals to game ratio of 0.21 goals
    - Only ever played more than 20 competitive games for 1 club (Blackburn) out of a total of 9 clubs

...Not looking good to be honest

Not a chance. Derbyshire probably could get 20 goals in non-league though.

    What, films per week?

We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

He went to Oldham and got about 4, so it is doubtful.

A fit Ishmael Miller could offer something, I think he has shown that (albeit very briefly) in spells with us. It is the injury thing with him though, I can't recall him actually having a long spell without getting injured.

Derbyshire is a tryer, one thing I have never doubted is that and it is surprising because his career should suggest he has more to offer. The highlights suggest he put in a great 45 mins last night.

If he suddenly has a lot to offer it is certainly not a bad thing, I am a bit sceptical regarding Derbyshire though, but like Darby said, it's a clean slate for everyone and he (and all other fringe players) have a pre-season to show the management team what they've got and show they have something to offer NFFC.

In all fairness our failure signings Derbyshire, Miller, Greening all clearly have the ability to play at this level. I think the issue is we can only judge really off what they did under McClaren and Cotterill, well who performed well under them? Very few. And let's face it ever since managers have been trying to get rid rather than give them a chance. Maybe that's because they didn't show they offered anything, considering SOD had seen them all before the previous season I would think that his mind would have been pretty much made up.

Derbyshire is more of a winger, miller is a big lad and he did play well with henderson

I don't want anyone leading the line who reminds me of Ben Stiller.

Plus he scored 4 goals in 18 games last year in League 1. Look at McGoldrick's record in comparison.
