Is Lyndon James local lad who has come through a Academy. I’m hoping so as Notts historically have been pretty poor in developing their own lads and getting them through into first team. Despite losing a day that’s a great win today and James seems a genuine all rounder.

I can't believe how good we are now; a month ago we were total garbage. I wish Forest could turn it around this quickly.

No game this week. Bit of a downer.

This Championship format is better though, isn't it? Format of first class county cricket gets revamped more than any other sporting competition I can think of, but this seems to work quite well.

It doesn't create the problem where three or four counties at the bottom of div two are encouraged to just give up and play white ball cricket. The group's aren't regional like in white ball cricket where counties play the same handful of opponents over and over and rarely meet the rest. And you haven't got a load of meaningless matches the eighteen team championship used to create, and the uneven home and away schedule.

So you can have Gloucestershire as the best team currently, Northants doing all right, Derbyshire did ok last year. After three years, Notts have just won two matches and suddenly they're interested in how the competition pans out. It keeps every side in it. They stumbled on this format due to the pandemic, probably be all changed again next year.

It'll be interesting to see how the 2nd phase pans out, when most of the teams will have only position to play for, but that phase does offer the incentive of next year's groups being based on this year's performance. I think it is working really well so far, it seems to have freshened up the tournament - just a pity they can't improve the schedule to get it more into the summer, and to avoid blank weeks like this week.

Edit: I've got my member's tickets for the Worcestershire game, can't wait to go back to Trent Bridge in a couple of weeks.

I've been weighing up whether I've missed live sport enough to go to Canterbury for the third day of Kent versus Glamorgan in a couple of weeks.

It's hard to say. Probably not quite. But throw in a run around Canterbury, and sunshine, maybe.

I’ve just received my tickets for Saturday at Trent Bridge vs India. Live sport, in the flesh - I can’t bloody wait.

Cheers, Rocka. I’m going with my dad and my kid brother, who I haven’t seen for over a year. Should be a good ‘un, even if Kohli bats it out the whole day.

I was in the pavilion a couple of years ago when he was out for 97, he'd played an absolutely superb innings and was never in trouble. You could hear the bat hitting the wall upstairs and him cursing

I used to thoroughly enjoy heading down to Trent Bridge, buying one of those four-pint carriers of beer, then sitting in the stands and drinking all four pints myself whilst Samit Patel went on a one-man mission to smash the ball into the Trent.

    Good days.

I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

I know it has been fourteen months, but the novelty of watching rain and gloomy weather above a patch of grass is still probably wearing off for members today five hours into the match.

I've got tickets for Saturday and Sunday and am wondering how much of the Fox Road stand is covered by the roof. If it wasn't the first occasion in 18 months, there's no way I'd be attending on a showery day with a balmy 11 degrees.

As long as there's enough play, it'll be good to be at live sport whatever the weather. Forecast doesn't look too bad. Couple of walks to the Forest shop to check out the new Sunderland kit when it does rain, and that's a big day out.

Had hoped to go see Notts at Essex next week, as it's the only time they play this way. Members only at this time though. Same with Kent. Will have to wait a bit longer.

Good day batting and a fantastic last hour with the ball. We need to get them out before lunch and enforce the follow on.
    Fletch will do the rest.
