When I was baby, my parents used to bathe me in Australian lager.
    It wasn't until I was 18 that I realised I'd been fostered.

So Iím graduating, well I donít have the paper yet but I passed all my last classes so Iím done. I see all my friends celebrating, the ones Iíve known from high school and also the friends made in college. I think Iím the first one on my fathers side who graduated college as well.

But, Iím having a hard time finding the motivation to take pictures or even just celebrate the achievement. While my closest friends have their full graduation garments on, taking pictures on campus with champagne (or the cheap American equivalent), Iím at home or at the gym.

And itís not because I didnít like my major, opposite really because I love computers and the ability to mix that with a business environment is great to me.

I think itís hard for me to fully realize that the way I graduated was entirely different from what I was expecting since basically kindergarten. I finished my classes online and the commencement was a drive through thing where you drive in with your car, get out onto the stage receive the diploma and get back in your car. Combine that with the ridiculous amount of death weíve experienced as a society during a time where Iím supposed to be ďcelebratingĒ.

I donít know how to feel really.

You should be VERY proud of yourself Thomas. If you feel like celebrating, then you should do so. I know I would, even in these unusual times.

    Congratulations young man.

Thomas youíve done a significant thing in completing your college education (Iím sure you know the drop-out rate).

A degree in a technical subject - whatever the circumstances - is nothing to be sniffed at, you should be incredibly proud of the hard work youíve put in to get this far.

    Well done!

ĄI believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialismď

ĄDon't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.Ē

    Congratulations Youth!
    Be proud of your achievement

My daughter graduates as a social worker this year but there will be no graduation ceremony due to Covid.
Weíll do something special ourselves so she can dress up and receive her diploma. Itíll be from me and not some professor bod - but itís something she can celebrate and be proud of.

Your palms are holding her neck and thumbs are at her ears regulating the speed of her head as she swallows and then sucks up your machinery. She is topping up your engine oil for the cross-country coming up. Your RPM is hitting a new high. To wait any longer would be to lose prime time... She picks up a Bugatti's momentum. You want her more at a Volkswagen's steady trot. Squeeze the maximum mileage out of your gallon of gas. But she's eating up the road with all cylinders blazing.

I'm not sure if it'll help or not but I really didn't want to go to my graduation, the board and gown thing is a nonsense in my opinion but it was my family who wanted me to do it. Now it's a great memory for me because most of the family that were there are no longer with us sadly. I feel for you lot who do not get that day that I did, ceremonies are being cancelled left right and centre here.

You've managed to achieve something amazing mate, especially during the current times. Try and let it wash through you now, and take whatever steps you need over the next few months and look forward to the future. Looking forward to hearing what you're up to

I'm on as a subject matter expert, for a support call, where a team of experts are guiding our end users on raisisng requests in our new Purchasing tool.
One of the fields is 'country' - but it works on a hierarchical drop down, where you select continent first, then region and country...our user in the UK, looked at the continents and declared 'None of those, because we're not in Europe anymore'.

Well done Thomas, you should feel doubly proud, not only have you graduated but you've done it in incredibly difficult circumstances. Celebrate however you like.
By the way I didn't go to my graduation ceremony, got the certificate in the post.

Congratulations and as others have said, you should be proud of graduating and all the hard work you've put in.

Hopefully it's not long till you come over properly for a full and a reacharound game.

Met with a fellow consultant this morning to jointly scope a piece of work. Our paths have crossed before and I knew she has a form of Asperger's that makes it difficult for her socially. She also has trouble reading any emotional cues and the subtleties of interaction.

However she is highly prodigious and continually operates right at the edge of her long reach. Also, totally inspiring and daunting to boot.

A large part of our work is producing technical and strategic information that is copy ready i.e. publishable. She asked what I was 'turning over' which translates as the easy to measure words-per-day count. Proudly, I said I was at 1200-1500. To which she nodded and said she was 'turning over' 3000-3500. I.e. we scoped a 20k word output and she said 'give me the week'. She knows her worth though as she then said '£6k ex...and I've knocked a few hundred off mates rates'.
