    Default Chris Gunter

    ...oh dear.

Great attacking threat in the Prem thus far, but continues to be a far from convincing defender.

Soz, thought that one was about season ticket prices, but note it goes on to talk about Gunts.

Always a difficult call whether to discuss ex-players here or on football banter. Guess they don't deserve the honour of being on here having sodded off, so merge away mods!!!

It has given me a chance to watch that last goal again - ouch.

In a perverse way, I take a small pleasure from watching that last Arsenal goal having trousered £2.5 million for the player who made the error. God knows enough teams have sold us duds over the years. I'd also be happy to watch him succeed though, I'm not that bitter!

One error, 120 minutes into a match they had already lost hardly makes him a dud. He was probably just bolloxed.

Arsenal were awesome (dreadful word that I seldom use, but merited in this case) from when they went 4-0 down.
I don't want to see Gunter do badly, but most Forest fans were aware that he was probably at best a decent Championship player.
That said, I still prefer he was with us rather than not.

I watched the match. He made 3 or 4 bodged crosses in a row before one deflected in, rest of the game offered nothing defensively whatsoever.

What is he trying to do with that header? He looks like he wants to try and flick it backwards to the keeper, but he is a long way from the keeper.

I said this in the other thread, and was shouted down.

Apparently being a right back automatically makes your responsible for everyone elses mistakes aswell.

Thought he had a mostly good game last night.

He's every bit a Premier League player, just very low on confidence.

    Come home, Chris.

Arsenal had plenty of success down that side, he nearly gave away a penalty and he go done by Walcott for the Corner that led to Arsenal third. The 4th also came from his side of defence. He wasn't very good at all apart from attacking. Maybe Cotteril had the right idea making him a winger! As I said in the other thread (which, when Col pulls his finger out might become this thread) he's a nice guy, good enough for us but he jumped ship so stuff him.

I don't think any defender can walk out of a match with any credit after his side have conceded 7 (SEVEN) goals.

Gunter is a solid Championship player but nothing else. Hutchinson has looked a much better all round player in the matches he has played for us.

Hes always in a rush for some reason.

Ive never seen him put his foot on the ball and gently pass to his team mate....

Enoch Powell always used to ensure he had a full bladder to keep him focussed when making a speech.

Maybe chris does the same before a football match.

Nothing to do with him being a right back this particular goal. Nor, Alex, can it be put down to him being 'bolloxed'. Very, very poor judgement, the likes of which he was often guilty of last season. Cotterill was right, he's a winger...and a top half championship one at best.

    £2.5M?
    Ker...ching.

He's always running. It's like he's running away from something.

I sadly always thought he wasnt very good at his main job of defending, Watching the match last night it confirmed it to me, maybe they could try and turn him into a winger I think thats his best role.

He made Reading's fifth. People used to say Ashley Cole couldn't defend...in fact it's almost a cliche to say it of young full backs these days. His defensive ability (much better than he's getting credit for in this thread) can and will be improved with good coaching.

    Agree with this.

Most modern fullbacks have to be so focussed on attacking, teams want athletes there who can run forward and cross the football, rather than the hard-man fullback of years past who rarely ventured beyond the half way line.

Many of those considered the "best" full backs are not noted as defenders - like Dani Alves at Barcelona, Patrice Evra at Man U, Cafu when he was at Milan and the legendary Javier Zanetti at Inter.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”
