I just don’t even get it anymore.

For fuck’s sake you’ve been tactically out-fought by Nagy, who has the strategic grasp of a cheese-plant.

    Hashtag Dumb.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

And now the situation where Chicago can run down the clock and kick a field goal.

That is frankly pathetic game management from the Lions.

    Again.

You beat yourselves more than anything. Badly coached, penalties, can’t get the right amount of men on the field or get the calls out there, poor game management, shit roster.

Man this Lions team has a long way to go before they become competitive.

    As above.

Jesus fucking Christ. If ever there was a game that was a gimme, that was it. The Bears are - frankly - wank. But the Lions, through a combination of inept play-calling and self.inflicted penalties, made them look like the Bears of 1985.

Questions to answer for Dan Campbell; is he deliberately tanking for high draft-picks, or what?

    Default NFL and CFB Thread

Pretty sure Dan Campbell has never called plays before in the NFL prior to a couple of weeks ago - as rookie Head Coach not sure taking over playing calling was a wise move. Too much for him to take on in his first year perhaps.

Maybe that was our last chance at a win - so we have got he number one draft pick secure right now.

I am heading to Seattle for New Years to see our game. While looking forward to the trip to Seattle not really looking forward to the game as much as seeing Seattle !!!

What I really don’t understand is where have all the creative risk taking plays gone that worked so well against the Rams? Instead we run draw plays on 3rd and 12 week after week.

Meanwhile the penalties are a joke where is the discipline. Oh wait we have a coach who calls back to back time outs and costs us 5 yards on a critical play.

Some big games and big news over the weekend.

The Game ™ what a fantastic game of football, great crowd, games like this is why college football is great. The atmosphere compared to the NFL is night and day. Pleased for Michigan, they should make it in to the final four. It will be interesting to see if 'Bama turn over Georgia (I doubt they will but I will never write off 'bama) to see who makes it to the final four. Georgia, Michigan, 'Bama and Cinci? Or do you drop one of 'Bama/Cinci for OSU/ND? But yeah, if we could fuck off the blowouts and just have competitive CFB games dare I say it is a better overall product than the NFL?

Lincoln Riley to USC was one I wasn't expecting, the rumour was he was going to LSU but they must have been outbid. Some people have been questioning the move but for me I think it makes a tonne of sense. If he nails in state recruiting (which when you look at some of the OU commits for 2022 & 2023, he has already done) he really only has to beat Oregon every year and I will guarantee they will be in the playoffs every season. It is a programme with a ton of history and glamour, one of the top 3 regions in the country for recruiting, then you have hotbeds of football like Washington and Arizona who are all prime for USC too. A cert to make the playoffs if he wins out and look at the success former USC coaches have had in the NFL. USC and Riley should do very well out of it. Reports came out last night that Kliff Kingsbury is being touted as the next OU coach . Can't see it personally, he has the QB he has wanted since he saw him in HS, the leader in the NFC, a young team and a franchise that gave him his shot after being fired by TT. Plus Kliff has said he loves the NFL as it is all football, he hated the recruiting and politics of college ball, but expect a extension for Kliff to the tune of 4 years $40million in the next few weeks IMO.

Oh, I thought the Sunday slate this week was pretty... meh? Bengals slapping the Steelers was nice to see, Dolphins likewise to the Panthers. Are the Pats the best team in the AFC? I wouldn't rule out them or the Chiefs winning the AFC, though Baltimore keeping rolling too. Packers beat the Rams, so much for this super team they have put together, Stafford is looking a lot like the Lions Matthew Stafford... 49'ers keep rolling, I think they could even pip the Rams in the West with how things are going. Colts shit the bed against Tampa.

I'd await the injury reports before declaring anything like that. Deebo Samuel (best offensive player) and Fred Warner (best defensive player) both being evaluated. As always, the injury bug hits us bad.

To be fair, the injury bug hits everyone, I am not going to bang on about who the Cardinals have been missing as that is pretty obvious. Thing is, I don't understand why when we played the 49'ers they moved away from the run so quickly, it seems like KS has gone back to what he knows and embraced the run game again.

Ha ha ha. Try having to play without an entire secondary or receiving corps.

Deebo out for two weeks and Warner out for one. Thank goodness.

Talking of injuries the Saints play the cowboys tonight without QB1, WR1, RB1, TE1, LT1, RT1 and LG1. I can’t see anything other than a 5th loss in a row. Micah Parsons will have a field day.

The Saints are very well coached but a badly put together team. Till they find a QB I can't see them doing anything anytime soon. I don't know what Hill has over Payton to keep getting new deals when it is clearly obvious he can't play the position.

The Saints kind of have themselves to blame, as their salary cap situation is horrific.

Yup, they went all in on a Superbowl in Brees's last few years, fell short and are now trying to rebuild on the fly. But they will always struggle while they give out stupid contracts to players like Hill.

Much like Seattle, Steelers and a few others, they need a big reset. Not the year to be drafting a rookie QB though, I genuinely don't like any outside of maybe Kenny Pickett.

Going to have to disagree I think the Saints have a very good roster just missing a QB. If Brees had this roster in his prime then he’d definitely have more than one super bowl. Everyone said the Saints were in cap hell last year yet the only players we released that we miss are Hendrickson and Sanders and that was with the cap being lower due to Covid and it was always going to be difficult to keep all of the ridiculous 2017 draft class.

I think it would be silly to completely reset as before all the injuries hit we had beaten the packers, pats and bucs quite convincingly.

Annoying that we’ll most probably have a high draft pick the year there is seemingly a lack of QB talent.

Matt Corral is the only QB I would think of spending a top 15 first round draft pick on after that the drop of in this class is massive.

Pickett is going to be plagued with the fabled he has really small hands issue that teams seem obsessed with I would group him with Sam Howell and Carson Strong well behind Corral.

Listened to an interesting podcast last night on the drafting of QB'S the hit rate for finding your QB taken in second half of the first round is only 17 per cent!!!

QB`s taken in the top 16 you have about a 1 in 3 chance of them being a hit!!!

Fully agreed this is not the year to be drafting a QB. Teams will still take their shots I mean Russell Wilson was found in the 3rd and Dak in the 4th
so a team may find a sleeper QB but its unlikely.

As a Lions fan I would be happy with Thibodeaux or Hutchinson with the first overall pick very likely to be Thibodeaux in reality should be.

But I can see if Michigan end up somehow winning the CFP and he stars which he will need to do the pull for the Lions to draft a local born
and raised in Michigan played football for Michigan will be massive. But I would take Thibodeaux.

If we want a development QB I like Carson Strong his injury issues worry me but he could slide to the 3rd easily due to knee concerns.

We need help everywhere so ideally our first 3 picks (2 in round 1) need to be plug in straight away type of prospects.

Saints have some good players no doubt, but then again you aren’t paying a QB $30-40m a year, so there is wiggle in the cap space. I’m not sure on how the contracts were structured so it would be unfair to comment but the Saints have been bad recently for kicking the can down the road.

Realistically, how can you see the Saints competing for a SB in the next 5 years when the three QB’s on the roster are Winston (on the back of an ACL), Taysom Hill (who can’t throw the ball) and Ian Book (less said the better). You are either going to have to send a tonne of draft capital to get an established QB (Russ?) or a tonne of draft capital to move up. Either way it puts a hell of a lot of pressure on finding ‘the guy’.

In the NFL it pays to either be very good, or very bad. The worst you can be is around a .500 team, and that is what the Saints look like to me.

Well, that was the most Lions win ever; fucking up by going for it on Fourth and one from their own 28, then somehow Jared Goff engineers a 16-play, 75 yard drive and finds Amon-Ra St. Brown as time expires.

    27-29

    Wow.

Cardinals win as Andy Dalton play like Father Christmas handing out presents to the Cardinals players, 49'ers losing to a trash Seahawks team, Lions winning in the last second. What a great Sunday .
