One of our cleaners reasons for voting for Brexit was she left school and went straight into a factory and it should bring them back. It's odd how shit wages and conditions are ignored if you can walk to work. So much for leveling up

To be honest I was on good wages for my age, at one point I was taking home about £320 a week in 1991 on a machine. By comparison my mate who is a Joiner for a company was taking home £365 a week a few years ago.

Your cleaner is deluded though, those days will never come back, the wages or the family run company conditions are long gone. More like zero hour contracts, no security and horrendous shift work, trying to get out to an industrial estate in the middle of nowhere at 5am in the morning.

Well, ultimately the money ends up leaving the country, it’s just a case of where exactly in the supply/manufacturing train. When tariffs are involved it doesn’t make sense to be at the part of the chain that’s doing the importing. Which is why businesses end up uncompetitive and eventually disappear.

As much as I hate the Tories, it's probably the right thing to do. Public transport budgets should be lower over the next few years as demand for it will be lower after COVID.

The taxpayer has also been bent over backwards to pay for the railways this year as all franchises have been de-facto nationalised, with the revenue and cost paid for and shouldered respectively by government. Costs have been flat but revenue absolutely tanked. I think there was a report out the other day saying government spending on rail up from 4bn to 12bn this year, and that 8bn is purely on keeping the franchises from collapsing.

Ironic headlines coming through on my phone. The mayor of Liverpool has been arrested.

He's really trying to get acquainted with the locals isn't he?
