I have to declare (not for the first time) that I do have skin in that particular game as it were, and pointed out (more than once) in the Brexit thread that the only functional way that leaving would work for NI would be a „border“ in the Irish Sea, such was the insistence of the „Leave“ campaign in withdrawing from the Single Market and Customs Union.

I think the worst thing here is that Belfast has been mostly on fire for the last week, and only now does the Prime Minister speak up.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

As most of the media are conveniently ignoring it or playing it down, Johnson feels able to dismiss it.

Sky News mentioned it, but had a graphic saying the tensions were caused by 'the EU's Brexit deal'. Subtle rebranding there.

I reckon they've got a checklist of every Labour policy ever and are just fucking them off one by one.

It seems like a great time to roll out the obligatory "If you're not doing anything wrong why would you object?" rhetoric.

The government have voted down a Labour motion to expand the inquiry into the Greensill scandal cross party. The inquiry therefore will be continue to be conducted by.... the Government.

It really is moving towards a tin pot dictatorship here, compliant newspapers, judiciary undermined and portrayed as the enemy of the people, BBC cowering at the threat of losing the licence fee and now just a government propaganda machine and any independent review of anything they do being kicked into the long grass or straight jacketed. I really do despair...

    ‘Moving towards’? It’s already there.

Aren't they going to hire the same bloke who wrote the report saying there's no racism here and Britain should be the model for the rest of the world to follow?

MPs will be spending seven and a half hours in session in the Commons next week giving tribute to Prince Philip.

That's longer than they were given to scrutinise the final Brexit deal.

It's nothing short of breathtaking what the likes of Johnson, Patel, Williamson, Hancock and 'Honest Bob' Jenryk are now routinely able to get away with.

Is there one person with even an ounce of integrity in that fucking cabinet?

Yes but got Brexit done , that’s all that matters.

Wait until the next election, all they will have To say is ‘labour will reverse Brexit’ and they are in again.

Sadly, you're right, mate. I voted Remain but we're out of the EU now. I think realistically we'll need more of the electorate to see the disadvantages of us being out, which could take many years, before the Brexit argument goes away.
