Default Your games of the year

Bored again, so I thought I'd share my top 5 games of the year. Feel free to post yours and maybe we can discover some hidden gems. Update your list as games come out if you wish and come the end of the year maybe we can add up the votes.

    5) Sin and punishment - treasure - wii. Bullet hell but classy as anything, luckily for those like me with less than cat like reflexes there is a two player co-op mode which is splendid fun.

    4) Red Dead Redemption - PS3 - Rockstar. Grand theft auto with a colt 45. It still has some of the basic GTA flaws but also improves on the established formula but finally a decent cowboy game. Special mention goes to the best sunsets I've ever seen.

    3) Mass Effect 2 - 360 - Bioware. An action RPG which shows final fantasy how it should be done. The game while good is raised to this lofty position by some of the best characters and voice acting seen in video game. Female Shepard rules!

    2) Bayonetta - platinum games - 360. God of war for grown ups. Easily the best combat in a side scrolling beat em up ever. The more you play, the more you appreciate the depth. Giant bosses and non stop action all the way. Cliffy B (gears of war, unreal etc) when asked which game in history you wish you'd made answered Bayonetta.

    1) Demon's souls - From Software - PS3. Part rpg, part action/beat em up but above all Hard, hard, hard and yet each time you die (and you will die a lot) you feel like it was your fault and if only you had done this....innovative and very creative with the best online gaming ever. Brilliant

Honourable mentions go to Blazblue which along with being a cool game has an excellent dvd included which teaches you how to play well, thus avoiding too many 'murkings' and especially Super Street Fighter, which would easily have been in my top 5 if the original hadn't been last year. I'm about to play Galaxy 2 and I suspect the gay plumber will be after the number 1 spot. All in all I'd say it's been a pretty good year

I thought Bayonetta was crap, took it back to the shop.

Uncharted 2 was the best game I played this year, not that I've played that many.

Uncharted 2 is ace but it was released in the UK last year. Bayonetta is perhaps an acquired taste, sometimes critical darlings don't appeal to the mass market.

Red Dead Redemption was an amazing game - thoroughly enjoyed it! I've also really liked Assassin's Creed 2, hell of a lot better than the first.

I really hated bayonetta, but perservered and after about 5 hours into it - it really clicked and I loved it. Obviously, its a fair bit of work to put it in though- but some of the stuff towards the end is just incredible.

Uncharted 2 also was outstanding, you are spot on.

Red Dead Redemption was great, I also really liked GTA Episodes from Liberty City too. Other than that I can't really think of anything else decent, I'm hoping Black Ops will live up to its expectations though & be the game of the year.

I always forget what year games were released in but seeing as they are already mentioned, RDR and AC2 were fantastic.

I must admit the only two games I've bought this year were Modern Warfare 2 (which was excellent, although the single-player mode is a bit short) and FIFA 11, which I'm enjoying immensely (especially yesterday evening, beating Derby 8-0 lol

vvvvvv is cool I was pimping it earlier this year. Makes me think maybe I did miss some cool games by not being born twenty years earlier

I'd actually like to throw Dead Rising: Case Zero in there too. Short but brilliant. Not even had time to play the full game and now Fallout New Vegas arrived today!

Mass effect 2 was probably the best game I played all year.

Randomly though, one of my personal favourites was war for cybertron. Not a great game by itself, but fun, solid and pretty much spot on for the transformers material. Its particuarly awesome on the 360, if you stream the original 80's movie soundtrack through the dash and replace the ingame music with it...and have a beer at the same time.

Theres nothing quite like driving along to dare, and at the mid point switching to robot mode in mid air jump and destroying a few decepticons.

It took that long? My first save corrupted Currently I have a glitched mission where I can't complete it, which has a knock on effect on 2 or 3 other missions! Bit of a let down, as it's as excellent as expected otherwise.

I've not bought enough new games this year, so I can't really comment.

    4) Angry Birds Halloween.
Like it, they've sorted out the issues where the game's jumpy. Keeps me on the toilet that little bit longer.

    3) Fifa 11 (Bought after my previous disc broke)
It's ok, although there's nothing really to keep me there anymore.

    2) Fifa 11
This game is great! Really enjoying it, I hope i don't break it.

    1) Halo Reach
This game is freaking awesome. Been sat up for hours playing this since I bought it!
