    Default Alan "a clock is right twice a day" Nixon

    This is every rumour related that Nixon has posted with the word Forest in the last year - I couldn't be bothered to go back further, it will probably be along the same lines.

    SUMMER 2021

    X - Jerry Yates - BLACKPOOL -> FOREST
    X - Joe Worrall - WEST HAM / BRENTFORD -> FOREST
    X - Sam Clucas - STOKE -> FOREST
    ? - Gabriel - FOREST -> BLACKPOOL / HUDDERSFIELD
    ✓ - Warren Joyce - SALFORD -> FOREST (He said U23 coach, he is the U18 manager - but maybe you can give him that one)
    X - Betenelli - FULHAM -> FOREST
    X - Buchanan - DERBY -> FOREST
    X - Johnson - FOREST -> BRENTFORD
    X - Josh Laurent - READING -> FOREST
    ? - Lyle Taylor - FOREST -> BIRMINGHAM

    The only transfers in so far are our Phil & the American keeper - he didn't mention either, apart from Hovarth until after he signed.

    WINTER 2020

    X - Samba Sow - FOREST -> "somewhere"
    X - Dan Gosling - BOURNEMOUTH -> FOREST
    X - Harry Arter - FOREST -> BRISTOL CITY

    SUMMER 2020

    ✓ - Nick Colgan - WIGAN -> FOREST (goalkeeper coach)
    X - Matty Cash - FOREST -> SOUTHAMPTON
    X - Joe Worrall - FOREST -> BURNLEY
    ✓ - Luke Freeman - SHEFF U -> FOREST
    ✓ - Gabriel - FOREST -> BLACKPOOL
    X - Grosicki - WBA -> FOREST

    Make of that what you will, that 2 of his 4 correct rumours over 19, were members of staff. That is just Forest stuff. I imagine it will be the same for other clubs as well.

    As the old adage goes, „throw enough sh*t, some of it sticks“.

    „I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

    „Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

    Depends on what he commits, (not much usually, I know). But if Southampton bid on Cash for example. Does that mean he’s wrong?

    He stated we would sell him for £12m (we sold for more) and West Ham & Southampton were interested (went to neither)

    Yeah but considering the volume of players we sign you would expect a couple more

    So perhaps West Ham/Southampton placed a bid at 12m, then Villa outbid them.

    I think it’s clear he does have contacts from which he receives info, and he shares that info no matter how far along it might actually be.

    That means that a lot of his rumours ultimately don’t pan out, just as a lot of club interest doesn't ultimately become a transfer.

    Several of the ones you have listed as wrong were verified in other places as bids, the fact that they were rejected/fell through doesn’t mean that the info was wrong.

    If you’re just interested in hearing about who Forest are looking at then Nixon has his place, but if you are expecting to see an accurate record of who we are about to sign then you will be disappointed

    Tbf the Gabriel one and Buchanan ones are correct, those clubs have bid and we bid for him.

    I don't think Nixon said that any of those were 100% happening, normally he's very vague enough to give him deniable culpability.

    I was in Washington DC on the day he resigned. Didn't see him though.

    This is probably a bit misleading tbf, for example, we know for a fact we have bid for Buchanon and Laurent and that Brentford have made a couple of bids for Johnson and Burnley have been interested in Worral for ages, afaik, Nixon hasn't said that these guys were definitely signing, just that bids were made or that teams were interested (which helps protect him too, I'm sure)

    Exactly. He’s a journalist, he reports what he hears about bids and interest. He’s not got a crystal ball; he can’t predict which ones come to fruition….

    Fair point RR, but he responds to Twitter questioning such as "who is signing for my club", by providing a perfect lesson in ambiguity to give the impression he's in an exclusive ITK 'loop', rather than being honest and simply saying, "I don't know".

    It's his very job to generate interest & gain attention. Every rumour he posts is done with that in mind.

    Yes, just like the racing tipsters, they never tell you how things have gone, unless they win.

    They used to just write to sell papers, now it's for clicks, I think that's the term.

    I'm sure there are a few agents in his ear prompting his tweets.

    Dean Marney and Liam Palmer's agents liked this post.
