So basically, Whittingham is using us to up his contract negotiations with Cardiff.
If we make a substantial bid it could still be enough to force Cardiff's hand or Swansea with Pratley.
Pratley is out of contract next summer there so they would have to consider any decent offers.
Says on Sky Sports that they hope to have this sorted by the end of the week, so does this mean that they have agreed a deal with us for Whittingham or have they managed to sort it out themselves.
If they get it lifted by themselves I think that could kiss the whittingham deal goodbye
whats the point of agreeing a contract with Cardiff they probably won't pay it anyway, i rather have a promise from a liar
Cardiff City closer to removing transfer embargo
Aug 3 2010 WalesOnline
CARDIFF City last night took the first step to removing the transfer embargo currently placed on the club.
The Bluebirds have now paid current players signing-on fees and former players severance pay owed to them.
The Professional Footballers’ Association had been called into this dispute – and this was one of the three reasons why the club is under embargo.
Bluebirds chief executive Gethin Jenkins said: “We are working hard to get the embargo lifted by the end of the week.
“We have paid the monies the players were due, as we said we would last week.”
Cardiff still must pay two other football-related debts to lift the transfer embargo, including a £500,000 payment to Charlton Athletic and a £1.3m tax bill to Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.

The end comment surely suggest they have agreed a fee for one of there players. The fact they are hopeful of it being sorted by the end of the week but they still need to clear 1.8m of debt, the kind of money we would expect to pay for whittingham.
hhhmmm, the mind ponders!
interesting me bond........

Not necessarily, he only has a year left on his contract, if he intends to stay or if cardiff want any money at all for him he needs to be offered and sign a new one in the next 4 weeks. I doubt cardiff are in a position to offer him a pay rise so his mind could well be elsewhere.
Having said that, the malay guy has not put any extra money in so far and there are no deadlines until next week, so there's no indication that it's from him (he won't until he owns a majority). So personally I think it's quite likely they've sold either Whittingham or Chopra and are using the money from that.
If they have agreed a fee for one of their players to settle the debts then its likely to be whittingham judging by this interview taken from Sunday

said that forest have increased there bid for whittingham
Judging by this interview, whittingham is waiting for a better offer from a club who can match his ambition which cardiff clearly cant with all their financial problems.

gossip on cardiff forums says we've put in a formal bid today. kind of implies it's the first one, which would seem not to be the case based on the media. Also says that they've again turned down 2.5m from ipswich for chopra and the interview above suggests they're not going to let him go for less than 4m (while they're guaranteed to make a good profit on whittingham, in at 350k).
£2m plus Tyson should do it.
If that report is true then that sort of offer is a waste of fax paper.
I'm not one for negativity and I think it's great that we're attempting to buy the cream of the division but lets be honest, for that money we're not going to get anyone in that bracket. We reportedly sold Perch, a mediocre squad player for more than that so do they really expect to get arguably last seasons player of the division for £1m?
Burnley had a bid of 1.75 million turned down few weeks ago so who in their right mind at forest would think that a 1 million bid would be accepted.
unless they are offering that upfront and the rest installments
I hope this is just paper talk and is a bit skewed, as 1m for a 23 goal a season midfielder is just plain noncery and, I regret to say it, a bit arrogant. We need to stop pissing about here and establish our place as a top 5 side before it's too late.

Hope Forest move on now, but I suspect we'll mull this over for a week before putting in another bid that raises the last one by just two grand. lol
But cardiff need the money immediately to settle there debts; just give them 2 to 2.5 million and it would surely be a done deal. He would be such a big signing.
£3m would suit me as it not my money. Going to send out such a good vibe when we get him.
