    Default Most expensive game ever?

A gaming enthusiast has paid a whopping £10,800 on eBay for an extremely rare Nintendo cartridge.

Despite the astronomical cost the buyer, JJ Hendricks, was happy with his purchase saying the game was the 'Holy Grail of Gaming.'

The special cartridge was created for the Nintendo World Championships in 1990, and featured three mini games of Super Mario Bros, Rad Race and Tetris.

Only 26 of the gold-coloured video games were ever made by Nintendo

Eager competitors in the U.S had to score points within a time limit of six minutes and 21 seconds for each game.

The competition consisted of eight rounds, separated into three age groups and ended with a grand final at Universal Studios.

Only 116 special cartridges were made and 26 gold versions were given out to winners and runners-up in a Nintendo Power magazine contest.

Building block game Tetris is also on the rare disk

Industry insiders consider it the rarest and most valuable Nintendo game released.

Of the 26 NWC gold cartridges produced, only 12 copies have ever surfaced, according to Edge Magazine. In 2008, a gold cartridge went for a relative bargain of £9,200.

The latest anonymous seller was hoping for £15,500 for his game but had to settle for less after the top two bids on the online auction website were found to be fake.

I recall a film which featured some weird kid trying to take part in this tourney.

Lets just say its slightly different to the megadrive championships

The Wizard, and it wasn't quite that tournament, but it was a similar kind of thing.

yes, just looked it up on wiki.
