I'd say that Soul Calibur is more of a button masher than Tekken, but both can sometimes err that way.
I play a few 1-on-1's, mostly Capcom ones but I do also like the Guilty Gear/BlazBlue games.

I never really got on well with SNK fighters. I found them rather slow and clunky.

Yeah, I have the HD remix as well as Marvel Vs Capcom 2. I just want Capcom to re-do Darkstalkers though.

I too am waiting for them to re-do darkstalkers. Its about time it go an upgrade!

Im amazed its not had the HD treatment, as you'd think it would be a title that would do decently on psn/xbox live and the UDON people are doing the comics at the mo so wouldnt have any problems doing the sprites.

The creator of Street Fighter IV came out a while back and said that to do Darkstalkers IV would be his dream job, but Capcom over-ruled it. Foolish choice in my view. Unique characters, unique story line, and Street Fighter owes a lot to Darkstalkers too in my view.

I remember reading that actually. I think its down to sales isnt it? They were saying that along with a tatsunako vs capcom sequel, theyd do a darkstalkers sequel if another people demanded them.

Capcom have gone very shit in recent years and seem more determined to be a western style dev...based on what sells more than anything. So I dont think darkstalkers is likely to come anytime soon

More than likely, and Darkstalkers was never really popular in the West. Shame as it's a great game. It's annoying when great games don't get the credit they deserve. Ristar and Comix Zone are another two that deserve more credit and recognition.

Comix zone in particular, was something so different...but is largely forgotten. I had a quick go on it last year for the first time since the early 90's...and its held up very well.

Thats certainly due for a HD translation and it would look stunning.

Darkstalkers is a brilliant game, the anime movie was pretty good for it too. Its wierd, to say that Morrigan has become abit of a poster girl for capcom...that they havent bought the franchise back.

The Darkstalkers little mini-serial was very good, I will agree fully on that.


I was a little surprised that Ristar though wasn't in the All Star Tennis game they did as with extending arms he seemed a perfect fit into the game.

Id never thought about that before to be honest, but your right- it wouldve fit perfectly.

I do think they missed a trick by not including alot of thier older characters to raise awareness. Like psycho fox, kid chameleon or anyone from streets of rage.
I was happy they whacked in a couple of nights characters and alex the kidd though

A mate of mine worked on it, and kept telling me they were making a tennis game with alex the kidd.....i idnt believe it till it actually came out

Alex Kidd in Miracle World was a pretty good game, minus the stupid boss battles being based on rock-paper-scissors.

The fan made Streets Of Rage is a great game though.

Psycho Fox got morphed pretty much into Decap-Attack.

Kid Chameleon was a fun game.

Which streets of rage is that? I loved beats of rage, where they swapped out the character sprites for snk characters.

I never knew that about psycho fox...i used to play it loads on the master system.

Decap-Attack basically changes the sprite, level layouts and such, but it basically boils down to a similar game as Psycho Fox.

Streets of Rage Remake. Throws all of the characters from all three games in as playable, restores the back-up, mixes new levels with old.

It's a very good fan based game. Better than Sega could make nowadays :P
