Got to be the Stanley Spirit Level.

Don't know how I got through life without it...

By "relegation battle", do you mean 7th, 12th or 14th?

I think they are but they're pretty expensive.

My favourite free games are Paper Toss and Sheep Blaster.

I also love the Sky News, Sky Sports Soccer Special, eBay, Facebook, Comic Touch and Shazam Apps.

Amazon App. Just bought most of my Christmas presents off my phone from there. Quality stuff.

Shazam is brilliant, as mentioned for those "Oh, what's this song" moments we all have.
I'm loving Words with Friends at the moment, basically Scrabble against either friends or randomers (when they can be arsed to take their turn - FLAGMAN!)
The best Sat-Nav software I've found (and I've tested them all) is Co-Pilot Live.
Sky Mobile TV - free 3 months trial of Sky Sports channels (and ESPN) on your phone over WiFi.
Sky Sports Score Centre is useful.
The eBay and Amazon apps are useful. Red Laser is good fun too (in so far as scanning barcodes can be good fun!)
If you want to use your iPhone as a remote control to control iTunes on a home PC - then well, get Remote. It's amazing.
If you use twitter then Tweetie 2 is my client of choice.

Other good games which are cheap and fun:
    Flight Control
    Harbor Master
    Ronnie O'Sullivan's Snooker
    (it's only 59p at the moment - a bargain).
    Geared
    Doodlejump
    iDarts
    MiniGore

    For entertainment with photos:
    ColorSplash
    Juxtaposer
    Comic Touch
    OutColor
    Quadcamera

Finally for those who opt for the jailbreak route then:
Rock is my repo manager of choice at the moment.
Installous is an excellent mechanism for, um, trialling apps.
dTunes isn't as good as it was since Seeqpod died, but still handy.
qTweeter is a good 'can tweet without closing current app' solution.
SBSettings has all the things you should be able to toggle in your current iPhone but can't.
YourTube adds video download functionality to the YouTube app.
Whilist I don't go in for custom themes these days, 5 dock icons is essential for me.
If you do want themes, explore Winterboard.

I think that's it for my recommendations for now!...

What?! Stop nagging! I've got crap letters and I don't want to play a lame 4-letter word.

** checks his letters again **

Nope. Nothing for it other than a lame 4-letter word.

PocketPartridge and iPartridge are both great, flick cricket is good.

Also Midomi is superior to Shazam, by miles
