Re: £1.5m bid tabled in writing today for Whittingham
On the Cardiff forums they are saying he must be worth 3m!!

Re: £1.5m bid tabled in writing today for Whittingham
haha my favorite comment on their board;
"take the money.we need it .

Two ways of looking at this.
He MAY be worth £3M with a lengthy contract tying him to the club for a number of years. With a year to go before he walks away for nothing his market value would be closer to half that.
On the other hand only they know what he is worth to them. He may be worth more to them than he is to us. Brave call if they turn it down though, as they really can't afford to see him walk away next year.

I agree with this.

Re: £1.5m bid tabled in writing today for Whittingham
Cardiff aren't as financially in the pooper as some may think - they could reject this bid if they want, just depends if they're ready to gamble on losing him on a free in 12 months.
On a different note, the Burnley bid wasn't cash up front. There was a good million or so made up in future payments and bonuses. Our offer, should it actually exist, may be less on the face of things, but would be significantly improved on Burnley's bid. Burnley don't have the cash to pay up front.

how can Cardiff not be in the crap when the following is being reported
The Bluebirds are still under a transfer embargo because of a £500,000 debt for Mark Hudson, signed from Charlton, while they also need to sort out their tax bill and have wages to pay on July 28.
Ideally, the Bluebirds need to find £2m before the end of this month to ensure the transfer embargo is lifted

Re: £1.5m bid tabled in writing today for Whittingham
Forests offer is bang on
He's a gamble, one season does not make a striker.

Re: £1.5m bid tabled in writing today for Whittingham
On the subject of Cardiff's finance, I thought Risdale had 'investment' lined up? There's been 'big news' from the badly run Welsh club on at least two occasions that some disreputable millionaire was ready to start shoveling the cash in. What happened to that?

Re: £1.5m bid tabled in writing today for Whittingham
being reported on SSN that Dave Jones is favorite to get the Fulham job, so this deal could defiantly come off

Indeed. Especially as he's a winger/midfielder.

Don't they also owe £1.5M outstanding debt for Chopra as well?

i'm not sure about that, one thing i do remember is reading alot about before the play off final was that if Cardiff didn't win and get the premiership millions then they would be is serious trouble and looking at going into admin.
i keep reading stories about new investment for them but have seen no proof of it (it's almost as good as the clownty saga)

If Counteh's financial woes is a saga, this is more like the Neverending Story. Cardiff should have been docked points or wound up years ago.

Malayasian business man, I think will only invest once the club settle the outstanding debt with their previous chairman, I cannot remember the sum, posted it once , but it is an amount not to be sniffed at.

So we'll smugly buy Whittingham off them and they'll buy Ronaldo to replace him. lol

That's been 'lined up' for months now. They've been taken over by some Malaysian fella but still no sign of any money. If he was really gonna throw any money at them surely it would have been done in time to lift the transfer embargo this summer? He was trying to make a killing by buying them cheap then seeing them promoted. My guess is he will hang around for a year or two then offload the club so some other mug.

Cardiff were meant to go bust. Four times. It didn't happen each time and I quietly told everyone it wouldn't each time.
People are holding onto a pipe dream if they think we'll get Whittingham on the cheap. The only reason we'll get him is if Cardiff want to sell rather than lose him for free and if the player himself wants to join us.

yup, and apparently they still own £500k for Hudson, which was also the initial transfer fee!
I'd much rather Pratley over Whittingham if push came to shove, as good as Whittingham is at dead ball situations his overall game is nowhere to the standard of Pratleys and he has the pace of a snail.
It would also be interesting to know how many he scored from the penalty spot as I can remember Cardiff being awarded a disproportionate amount of penalties last season prior to Christmas.

Re: £1.5m bid tabled in writing today for Whittingham
They're being threatened by Motherwell now.
They are are still owed transfer money that was due in January...
