Yusuf Yazıcı [BUPA]

Lille spent 16M on him a couple years ago but he was out on loan earlier this year so perhaps out of favour but provides value.

Yeah seems like he found his level in those less prominent European leagues like Super Lig and Premier Liga, flamed out in Ligue 1. Maybe needs a fresh start?

His YouTube highlights are very very meh for the little that’s worth haha

More chance of Yusuf Islam.

Do our scouts get mates rates on French and German inter-rail passes or something?

Don't believe this one at all. I'd like to think we have better fallback options should we not get MGW.

It does seem that someone from Forest is absolutely hammering the German €9 monthly „go anywhere“ ticket at the moment! 😂

Just watched a few more highlight reels. I must say, he looks skillful with a more than decent shot on him. Impressive.

i think he'll do fine as a squad player , we do need attacking players who can offer something different

This guy doesn’t look like a prem starter by any means, as he couldn’t even hack Ligue 1. Would be worth a shot for the bench though you’d think?

Edit: the number of times he overcooks passes, shoots straight to the keeper, and narrowly misses the goal in his “highlights” is concerning

I think if I made up a rumour about a random player it would be more reliable than anything from the Turkish press.

I definitely wouldn't say he couldn't hack Ligue 1. He was an important piece of Lille's title team in 2021. They played a flat 4-4-2 and the centre of the midfield was pretty crowded, so at times he played on the right, but he also came off the bench a lot. Lille had Portuguese international Renato Sanches, Soumare who is at Leicester now, plus Ilkone (now in Serie A), Xeka and Benjamin Andre. He got covid twice, struggled to get a run in the team and still scored seven goals from the midfield. Lille made some strange decisions last season and their place in the standings shows that. Lille started their round of 16 Champions League matches against Chelsea, with a 6'4" 20-year-old defensive midfielder playing at their playmaker. I have no idea why they loaned out Yazici. When he's on form, I think he's quite useful, but he does have runs of good and bad form. I don't think he should start, but if he doesn't cost too much I think he would add to the squad depth and be a useful player.

I think the concern is that Forest are targeting him as their starting #10. Don’t think many on here would complain about him being a value purchase for bench/rotation purposes

Thanks pal.

Great to get extra info.

And one things for certain- his stats are very impressive for an attacking midfielder. Hoping we get him just so those Harrods shopping panini eaters don't.

Having seen quite a bit of him playing for Lille last season, I can say that the guy can take a set piece and would certainly fill that particular gap in our squad at the moment (until Garner returns anyway). As juneof86 says, he made a lot of substitute appearances during Lille's title winning league campaign, but always looked quite handy when he came on. He found more success in the Europa League, notching up two hattricks in the group stages. The second of these came against AC Milan at the San Siro, which was notably their heaviest ever European defeat at home. Interestingly, it also meant that Yazici was the first player to score a hattrick against AC Milan on their own turf since Barca's Rivaldo in 2000. He could be a useful squad player in my opinion.

It says Cooper doesnt want him, doesn't say he isn’t a target... You'd hope they mean the same thing though.
