After years in the football wilderness, rattling around the lower leagues, the end game approaches.

Nigel Doughty has failed to back the club seriously for years, always with one eye on the horizon and the potential of a successful England WC bid.

Forest's only chance of joining the English elite again all hangs on the 2018 bid. Doughty will not put any serious money into the club unless there is a chance of a windfall.

So just how depressing is it, that our future rests in the hands of a bunch of total shitheads!

Many Forest fans still cant see the wood for the trees, but trust me, the future of Nottingham Forest hangs greatly upon the World Cup venue decision early Dec 2010.

on a serious note every Forest fan in there right mind knows our future is based on the outcome of the World Cup bid , i cannot understand however why anyone would not want the World Cup in our country is beyond me .
Ill refuse to get into the debate on stadia however coz Alex cant half go on lol

I would love to believe our future involves the City Ground, but in my heart I know its days are numbered. Greedy money men always get their way. I thought the economic climate might save the City Ground. But I think we all know that one day in the not to distant future, we will be sitting in some soul-less flat pack, sterile arena, miles from the City centre pubs at the end of a tram line.

While forest fans have been despairing at the ongoing lack of investment in new players, our best friend Nigel has been busy buying/negotiating on numerous properties around the City Ground.

Looks like when the World Cup lands in 2018 Nottingham Forest will be playing their football in a 44k redeveloped City Ground.

Im not a great Doughty fan, but this is a definate result in my opinion.

The solution is in your hands - put your hand in your pocket and pay back the £40+ million that Doughty has already put into the club and then you can run the club the way you want it to be run. Our contribution to the club is insignificant by comparison to ND's and ultimately we do have a choice - go to matches or don't go to matches!

Nigel Doughty has pumped in excess of £50m into the club. Excuse me if I don't slag him off.

"Nigel has put in an average of £5million into the club every year over the past 10 years or so and having got Billy Davies as manager, last year his commitment was £13.4million," Arthur told the Nottingham Post.

"That is double the amount of money we bring in from season ticket revenue and match-day ticket revenue.

"For every pound supporters are putting in through the turnstiles, Nigel is putting in two."

Whilst doing my platelet donation the other day, the only paper to read was the Daily Mail. There was a column from some women with a big article about the X factor, and she was carping on about the themes for the show, and about the boy band singing 'Bright Eyes' and what has that got to do with Halloween, as it comes from the Rabbit film Watership Down. Now while not being an avid X factor fan, my kids were watching it, and I couldn't remember anyone singing Bright Eyes. When the girls came home, I asked them what the boy band sang, and they said "it was total eclipse of the heart"

I dont know the numbers so I'll make assumptions

15,000 season tickets at £400 = £6,000,000
5,000 buy tickets at 23 home games at £25 = £2,875,000

income from ticket sales = £8,875,000
 
The chairman has definitely let us down during the past two transfer windows, but that being as it may, I think the issue of club ownership is very much one of better the devil you know.

At least our debt is owed to Doughty and not some American/Russian/Israeli bank with no appreciation of what Forest means to the city and the English game as a whole.

My opinions have changed somewhat since 2005...
