Would be GOOD if it came off.

I don't think this name has been mentioned on here before so I will I'll tell you what I know.

A month ago at around the time BD was putting in his potential list of players to the AP he made an audacious call to Walter Smith and asked about the availability of Kenny Miller.

From what I understand Smith has been told that he will not get any transfer funds made available to him by the club, but he was also told that whatever he generates from the selling of his players he can keep and spend on new players.

Reluctantly, he has said that Miller could be one of his first stars out of the door but would like some time to find Millers replacement - "This apparently has now happened" - He has lined up a loan deal to take Michael Owen from United for the whole of next season.

I can't say whether we will get Miller or whether we will try or whether we can afford him but I do know that Walter Smith has kept Billy Davies informed of the situation all along.

Now that he has Michael Owen lined up, I expect Miller to be on his way soon – I personally would like it to be us.

More news that I can tell you about which has rumbled on all summer is about Whittingham - Burnley's offer of £1.75 for the lad was accepted until Burnley proposed payment instalments or a part exchange - Cardiff threw that straight out of the window and wanted the whole amount up front because of their well edited situation.

Forest (so far) are the only club to offer cash in full and have been told they will get their answer within a week but I'm not certain when that was said so I don't know when the week is up.

It seems like Cardiff have held out as long as possible and must now be panicking to get some cash in quickly to pay off some of their debts.

I hate Kenny Miller.

Miller would be a useful purchase but I really can't see the player wanting the deal, wouldn't wages be an issue?

I think I'm right in saying we have offered £1.5m up front for Whittingham so it sounds as though the two clubs aren't a million miles apart on valuation, all we then have to do is convince the player that the City Ground is the right move for him.

I know a lot of people slag off the way the club put in low bids for players, but when you see that we are one of a few clubs in the country paying cash up front rathert than the staggered paymenst etc then you have to see what a strong standing point we are in.

Good point.

Depending on the club players are available at a slightly cheaper price if it's all paid at once.

I don't think the above is true at all. Why would Rangers want a player like Michael Owen who is shit and past it and is one massive wages he will be on at Man Utd?

Because they play in a shit league where a past-it player can still look like a worldbeater? ;)

He would score goals in the SPL but they could sign someone who could score just as many on far less wages!

yes but a Michael Owen helps sell more tickets, burgers, coffees, programs, shirts and sponsorship.

He's very versatile :nowink:

So he can play left back then? :D

Why haven't the TAP gone for him then? I'm really beginning to tire of this blatant lack of ambition shown by the club!!

I wish the TAP would leak!!! I wish we had a signing in the pipeline as I'm plumbing the depths of despondency with our lack of activity in the transfer market.

I'm beginning to tire of people questioning the ambition of a club that has gone from relegation fodder to promotion contenders in 12 months courtesy of investing in a good manager and decent playing staff.

Kenny Miller is no way near good enough value and in my opinion would show a step back in ambition if we decided to go for him. He was only a decent Championship player in his pomp and I would expect us to be looking for players with much greater potential if we are serious about promotion.

What would be audacious about us trying for Miller? Middlesborough don't seem to have much trouble buying players from Celtic and Rangers, and Miller was only previously at De**y.

Kenny Miller would add absolutely nothing for the team other than a burden of an inflated salary. He's been playing in Scotland, hardly know for sharpen up footballers talent is it?

There's a reason he plays in Scotland, he's shit
