Not going to do a match report as it'll be done to death elsewhere.

We're now four games into the season and look an absolute shadow of the team that came out in red last campaign. A very solid twenty minutes against Leeds does not gloss over the fact that once again we were outplayed by a promoted team on our own turf and were very lucky to take even a solitary point.

Looking at the bench today was frightening. So much for last year everyone saying "Just look at Forest's bench!" Today, if we required a goal we only had the option of Tyson who can't hit a barn door. If we needed a creative outlet we were relying on McGugan who is decent on his day but his day it is often not. Everyone knows we've a tiny squad but this just goes to emphasize the desperate need for additions, any additions.

Cue McKenna. What the hell has happened to our rock of a midfielder? He looks lost. Passing astray and tackling out the window. A McKenna in form should be the first name on the teamsheet but currently he'd be lucky to make the bench for me. Moussi must start the next game. Why does Billy persist?

More criticism coming up Billy's way: If Tyson has to come on, god forbid, he does NOT go on the right wing. His only asset is his pace, and if he has to cut inside onto his left foot for playing on the right then it's a total waste of a substitution. Bring McGugan instead.

And what of the 4-3-3 we reverted to today? We totally lost the plot and became far too narrow. Playing balls over to Chambers on the right who had no one to help him was suicidal and we did it more than once. I'm very nervous over Billy's recent exploits, he seems like a man under intense pressure. I honestly think it won't be long before we're looking for a new manager.

If that wasn't enough negativity for you, then how about the fact that Wilson, Morgan, Cohen, McKenna, and Tyson all look totally unfit. Dex said on t'radio that the team are glad that it's international weekend next week as they need the rest already!

This isn't a moan about ND, MA, TAP, BD or anyone else. Just an observation from a usually quite optimistic person. We're in difficulties already and it's blindingly obvious to see.

There was no commitment, no passion, no drive... McKenna was shocking, and didn't even seem to be communicating much nevermind actually playing an active part.

The only two players that really had anything about them today were Earnshaw and Bertrand... and they can't do it all themselves!! it was genuinely painful to watch, and staying at nil-nil after their first couple of chances is a miracle, because Camp didn't have a clue where the ball was.

at least Billy was honest in the post-match interview, so hopefully the international break will involve some shake-ups and they will come back against miw-waw with a decent performance
 
seems like the whole place needs a lift really with some new faces (broken record anyone?), 21,000 also a fairly meagre attendance, esp with 2500 Norwich fans. Are fans staying away already?
 
I opened this thread hoping we'd signed Richard Worrying from somewhere or other.

Imagine my disappointment etc. ....
 
We were poor today but we played welll enough at Burnley and Reading and should have beaten Leeds. Not sure why we looked so flat today (apart from Bertrand) but it's only one game really - and lets give Norwich some credit, they look a very good team. Having watched us and most of the other tv Championship games we are certainly not relegation material as some are suggesting. A couple of new faces and we are still in with a good shout of promotion.
 
We were lucky to take a point against Leeds Ravi. Burnley was an equal game and so was Reading.

We should be on two points if the outcome reflected our performance. I'm not suggesting we're relegation material, but if nothing changes we aren't going to finish in the top half, let alone top 6.
 
i know we need people in but i really p's me off when we really dont have any youth coming through i'd love to see a lad coming through the system and doing something for us.

No we weren't. Leeds hardly created a chance in the entire game. We should have won that game and if Earnie's shot had gone in we would have done.
I agree we could easily have lost today though.
It's still early days....
 
I dont think we look a different side at all. We look exactly the same as we did as in the closing months of last season.

Nothing has changed off the field so nothing has changed on the field.

What is worrying to me is that we currently have one fit winger in Anderson, two if you can count Tyson as a winger, I see him as a makeshift one at best. We've still not actually replaced Commons which makes Whittingham a must buy.

Its time to give McGugan and Moussi a chance at home, Majewski did nothing again today, and while I like him, when hes not playing well all he's doing is giving the ball away and putting bad tackles in. I thought the boo's when he was taken off were ignorant as it was clear he was being completly ineffective. I also thought the ironic cheers for McKenna were in bad taste too, its not like he wasn't trying.

Really? I have heard it most seasons as a Forest fan, even at the start of last season. There's always plently of doom mongers around, especially on forums.
 
I've got to agree with you Robbie.

Forest looked strangely off-colour, we created very little, and never looked like scoring. Earnie's turn-and-shot against the post was the only decent attempt all afternoon; the only thing Naarch's goalie had to do was pick the ball out after the penalty. Otherwise he hardly broke sweat.

We just didn't have the urgency or rhythm of last season; it can't just be because we've lost Perch and Garner (and Gunter to suspension).

If we don't buck our ideas up we'll be nowhere near the playoffs this year, let alone any higher.

Im not too sure what you're talking about here. Forest looked far better after the subs and tactical change. Sure they got caught a couple of times, but the looked far more dangerous with Moussi and McGugan in midfield and Earnshaw on the wing. I didn't like it when Earnshaw was moved there but it got him into the game and he started to create openings. The 433 worked fine.
 
Thought today really highlighted how important Gunter is the the side. The imbalance today was really obvious - no disrespect to Chambo (he's a centre half playing right back!), but Bertrand shone because he can get forward in a supportive way and even have a run at people himself. It was far too easy for their left back today with Chambo well and truly anchored in our half, while on the other wing we probed alot more. If Gunter had played I think we would have caused them a lot more problems as we would have got behind them on the flanks and whipped a couple of crosses in. Early in the game getting down the channels looked like it might reap rewards - we put a couple of decent balls in - but it fizzled out and we let them off the hook. Norwich were keen to kick the ball out of play every time is was slung down the wing, but we didn't really have a players to really test them.

Those weren't boo's for Radi, they were booing because Radi was replaced in stead of McKenna. At least that was what I could gauge from the people sat around me in T5, who couldn't believe McKenna was still on the pitch.

Also, I think Earnie deserves a heap of credit, for near enough being the only redeeming member of the team today. He worked his arse off, looked sharp and was unlucky again with hitting the woodwork.

I agree with what you said about the boos for Raddy, im in T3 and most around me bood because he was replaced instead of taking McKenna off.

I thought that when McGugan came on, he played really well, showed what we have been missing so far this season, in that he is a hell of a lot more attacking midfielder than McKenna, and within the first 2mins he made both their LB & RB look stupid and in effect did more work in the first 5 mins than McKenna did all the while he was on the pitch....he just dont look like the old McKenna of mid season last year.
Tyson NEEDS to be played down the centre and not the wings, twice we played him in the centre last season, and twice he scored, why BD insists he plays wide i'll never understand.
Credit to Bertrand today too, he had the best game in a Forest shirt so far. I also thought Dex played reletively well today too, but most of the players looked unfit and ran out of steam quickly. Moussi tried his best to get the team moving, but it just didnt happen.
Im not worried about our squad and results...yet, remember last season, we didnt win in our first 8 games, and look where we ended up...give em time, and dont panic.
 
The thing that annoys me about Mc kenna in which is a poor example to younger players in the squad, is that if his passes go astay he is the first to blame another player rather than take the blame himself.Also today he was running with no sense of direction and he was miles away from the ball. Raddy always had to come deep to pick the ball up to even get involved then once he got the ball off the back 5 (including Camp) then he had to travel 30-40 yards to provide the front two with any Service. Which was hard because the 3 central midfielders for Norwich closed him down.Also their wasn't any width what so ever, Cohen was being sucked into the central midfielder area and Anderson was going from wing to wing. Soon as Anderson went off Chambers was so exposed Norwich expolorted this weakness in Forest like Wolves did when they beat us 5-1 in 2008. Alos as mentioned the whole place needs a lift with new players, The crowd was flat today with a mire 21890 attending the game.If it gets to Tuesday and their has been no fresh blood we are heading for a long hard season with injuries creeping in with McCleary and Anderson out for the next few weeks already.
 
Majewski, whilst a talented player, is horrendously overrated by a fair portion of our fanbase. I remember when Davies was booed for taking him off against Doncaster at the Keepmoat last season - despite the fact that he was absolutely dreadful.
 
The thing that stood out for me is the lack of team spirit, every player looks slightly deflated. When Blackstock scored, instead of all celebrating like they did last season, all players bar two or three just turned and wandered back to their own half.

The cheering of McKennas substitution was absolutely disgusting and would certainly put any prospective signing off playing for us if they saw it. Our fans are so retardedly fickle.
