well guys its not long to go now before we know the result of this.

Do you think we will win the bid ?

And do you think this will give everyman and is dog a boost down at the city ground.

Do forest hold a winning lotto ticket on the outcome of England being the winners ?
 
I think 4 Chief Executives of the FA in the lifetime of the bid will sufficiently unsettle the voters and England won't get it.

I think bribery & corruption, cosy deals, and backscratching in the voting process will scupper things and England won't get it.

I think the fact that "it's England" will, in the minds of the voters, cause hooligan-related panic and we won't get it.

The fact that Europe has very recently hosted a World Cup, and South America & Russia haven't will mean that we won't get it.

The fact that I DON'T want England to get the World Cup (for the ramifications for Forest discussed at great length in other threads) means that we WILL get it.......

...and it will go horribly, horrendously over-budget, and be liberally soaked in the most nauseating spin, jargon, David Beckham and buzz-words...

(I heard someone talking about the new 50p coin designs the other day, - a design "loosely" "based" on the godawful 2012 'Lisa Simpson Blow Job' Olympics logo - and he told me that the coin was - ahem: "filled with vibrancy as a result of the energy generated from the brand". No, really he did....)
 
Don't care. Just means if England do f*** it up horribly again, the team will have no where to hide in their own country.
 
It is all down to politics and money again.
If Putin wants it that badly he will get it, but it will cost him in other ways through trade deals and political favours which are nothing to do with football.
TBH - I lost caring about the FWC when Germany unfairly got the nod last time ahead of England. I was glad Africa (and SA) got it at last but it just a corporate circus now.
 
If you look at the candidates, an England bid would probably deliver the best experience for the fans - this country has the stadiums, the history and the infrastructure to deliver an outstanding World Cup.

The Spain/Portugal bid is an interesting one, as they have the stadia and transport links and also history; but Spain had a World Cup in '82.

The Low Countries bid is also technically good, but (and as much as I love The Netherlands) their bid, in terms of stadia and transport links, isn't as strong as England's.

Russia are the elephant in the corner of the room; the biggest problem Russia has is its sheer size; a World Cup held there would entail huge expense for supporters (and the competing teams!) due to the distances between cities in Russia, and the time zones (not sure how that would work!)

By all rights, England should win it. However I don't think we will, as there is too much money coming from Russia, and FIFA and the FA have not been the best of friends for years.

For all the talk of backhanders, stitch-ups and corruption within FIFA, the winner will be decided by a couple of dozen people (or 22, if they don't reinstate the two currently suspended on suspicion of corruption).

Would Nottingham as a City benefit from being a World Cup host? Certainly. The transport links would be improved (hell we might even get the A453 dualled!)

Would Nottingham Forest as a club benefit? Possibly; we might get a new stadium out of it (disclaimer - I'd prefer us to stay on the current City Ground site though) and it would be better than any ground we could pay for ourselves, due to the ability to attract additional investment to the city.

I've not got a clue who will win; I'd like to see England win it, just so that I could say I'd been to World Cup in my own country, but if England aren't successful, I'd like to see the Low Countries win, although I don't think FIFA would want to go there.

If Russia win, and with the greatest respect to Russia, then that is a decision purely made for financial reasons, rather than as a spectacle or for supporters interests.

Sadly with FIFA, the ordinary supporter is probably the thing they care least about.
 
Personally i couldnt care less whether we get it; i have fallen out of love with england as a football team so it would make no difference to me if we get it.

If it were up to me the World Cup would be staged on a shit encrusted field in Swindon.

Football has become boring and pretentious - it's time for a change.

I'd agree with that and take it further. If the WC is here, it'll be everywhere, and if it does turn out to be a big steaming pile of shit, then there'll be no getting away from it.

Plus I don't want to follow Gamston Rovers.
 
Stepping back from the Forest aspect... You really have to experience a World Cup to appreciate how incredible they actually are. In terms of atmosphere in the country rather than just in the grounds, England will have to do a huge amount to beat how good South Africa was.

I hope we get it - the month-long carnival is incredible and it'll be brilliant if we get it. Still undecided about the Nottingham bid but that's by the by.

FIFA are shits and they don't really think about the fans as such, but it's up to the people of the nation and the fans to create what's so good about the tournament.

I can't see Spain/Portugal or Netherlands/Belgium winning the bid, so it's between us and Russia really. I actually think the size of South Africa and the difficulty in getting around will count against Russia because the country is so vast and much travelling would need to be done.

I'm sure I'll end up eating my words, but I can't see past England hosting the tournament.
 
FIFA are a bloated, self important disgrace to the sport of football.

Quite fitting now though, football has all but dissipated up it's arse

The English team are full of rapists, hooligans, and retarded oxygen wasters.

Most of them need an auto-cue just to sing the anthem, let alone wear the England colours.

Hope Russia get it. England deserve nothing. At least the stadiums will be full of working class people.

At the moment, the announcement of the winner will be made by FIFA on December 2nd.

Unless of course they postpone the announcement, due to the current outcry about votes-for-sale and corruption within FIFA.

For me, it's England football. I mean England internationals. Except for the World Cup games earlier this year I don't remember the last time I watch an England game from start to finish.
 
This country has got more important things to be spending money on then a world cup tournament. Hope we don't get it.
 
I'd love england to get it but I think russia should win rather than us, spain/portugal, low countries. Everything else being equal like stadia and transport.

I hope i didnt offend alabamaRed, Ozred or DesertIrelandRed by saying 'us'.
 
Ive a sneaky suspicion that Spain/Portugal will end up with it. Most people assume it's eithier England or Russia, but I seem to recall last time we bid it being a 2 horse race between England and South Africa, and of course Germany ended up with it.

I do want us to get it though. But not at all fussed whether Nottingham itself get's it (although I suspect if England get it, then by default Forest get it, considering we are the only East-Midlands city left). Im actually really rooting for Plymouth to get it.

If there's a city in this country that could do with the "facelift" and boom that comes with a World Cup, then Plymouth is it. A potentially beautiful place, scared by big grey buildings hastilly built after being bombed to bits in the war.
 
I hope we get it, partly because of the new stadium, and partly because with home advantage we will actually have a chance of doing well for a change. However, with a determined Abramovich and his billions available to 'facilitate' the Russian bid they may well get it.
